Released only a couple of days ago, I'm hearing some great things about this card. Its price is comparable to the 8800GTS, but early reports (well, users of the xtremesystems forums) say it has great overclocking potential and that it will accept the 2900 XT BIOS. One guy managed to push his card up to 850MHz GPU/1980MHz DDR, which is pretty impressive for a <$300 card on stock cooling/voltage.

This could be my next upgrade, as there is a 1GB DDR4 version for $339... How that'll translate to GBP though I'm not sure... <£200 wishful thinking?

well I got my HD 2900 XT for 300 quid (give or take a few pennies) so I guess the PRO will be a bit more

PS. I love my 2900 so the pro will probably be pretty damn good

if i hadn't bought my 320MB GTS, i would have gone for this. surely more memory helps everything. currently can't play World in Conflict on full in Dx10 :(

From what we've seen in the Bit HQ labs (I stuck a piece of paper on the toilet door with "labs" written on it) the extra 512MB memory didn't help the XT, so prob will be the same for the Pro

Actually the pro is being sold as a mid-range card. The stock specs are lower than that of the XT. However, it seems easy enough to push it beyond the speeds of the XT.

Newegg has them in the US with the lowest priced HD 2900Pro being the same as the lowest priced 8800GTS 320Mb. Considering how it can easily be clocked into an HD 2900XT which beats the GTS in most things, it should sell well!
