Wait till you see the wood PSU and 80mm fans... :thumb:

Not really, now I have to build the mount for the PSU and the DVD. The PSU should be pretty straight forward, need some flat aluminum for the stiles. But the hard part will be holding the DVD in place below the mobo.

Here are a few update shots.

This is a shot of the Hard Drive mounting brackets. It will allow (4 x .75in HDD) or (2 x 1in and 2 x .75in).

With it loaded with hard drive, it also make a great weight.

Below is the Power Supply Unit (PSU) brackets clamped up.

Here is a shot of the PSU bracket, cleaned up.

Here is a dry fit for spacing of the pieces so far.

Here is a shot with the corner pieces in and the plexiglass cut to length.

Here is a shot of the DVD in the relative space.

I still need to build the DVD mounting brackets...

I love the designs that you are putting on the corners. My only complaint is that I would have made them all the same, but it looks great anyway.

    Asulc,

Thank you very much. I thought about making them the same, but wanted some variety.

I hope that fan grill in the corner is just a rough cut! Wouldn't want to ruin an otherwise good looking case.

Here is a shot of the HDD mounts. I primed them and then sprayed them black.

I am also using threaded inserts to hold things together...
They recieve a 6x32 machine screw, I have plenty around...

This is what it looks like in the wood. The hard part is screwing it into the wood, since both Canary Wood and Puprle Heart Wood are hard woods, I found I kept breaking off the slot on the top for the screwdrivers...

Wow, the case is looking awesome. How did those aluminum brackets like being painted?

And why do you have a Java CD in your wood working area - do you have a computer there too? Not a bad Idea, you can post directly to Bit-Tech. Maybe set up a web cam.

    Pfaffen,

Have you thought about threading a bolt through the brass sleeve then using the bolt head to get the sleeve in?

This way you could turn the whole mechanism into the hole without shearing off the top notch for the screwdriver and messing up the surface of the wood too much. You could then back the bolt out once the sleeve is placed into the wood.

Even better -Find a steel bolt/wood screw with a mathching thread and use that to cut the threads in the wood. Brass isn't strong enough for tapping hardwoods. (But you probably already knew that and just had a brainfart day.)

Well, they took the paint rather well. First I sanded them with 320 grit, then primed them, then painted them (2 coats). They turned out rather nice. Here is a shot as I was painting them.

WRT to the JAVA CD. I'm really a software architect, and was monkying around in the basement. I post from my office. Alot nicer and cleaner. Web cam is currently under design, still trying to keep the dust down and figure out which angles are best. Also, would like to stream more than 1 live feed.

I did and thanks... I have a 1" brass machine screw (6x32) and then 3 knurled nuts on it. That allows me to thread the threaded screw and make sure it is straight, then with the screwdriver, screw it in place. I'll have to take a picture of it to show you.
