Just a thought, why not use something similar to those telephone cord detangler things (cant think of a better word for it, heres a link http://www.abccables.com/kr-128.html of one for a handset, only 4 conductors, but im sure there will be something similar for rj45). And 8 pins would do it, if you are using sata, but im not sure if it would handle it current wise).
