I've just noticed on leopard, when i go to any file/folder and click get info there is a new group that has appeared under the permissions space called 'staff' and it has full read and write on everything.

    What is this?

No idea tbh. I had it on mine and just got rid of it. Doesn't seem to have affected anything.

    Ignore it I say.

Ok thanks, the only thing is that if i remove it it only gets removed form that one file, and it stays on everything else.

It's there in Tiger as well, not sure about Panther but I think so.
It's a group that's supposed to be there, I think it's a group that normal (ie, none admin) accounts are part of by default.

You can leave it be without any worry.
