Ok so I have like 4 cathodes and I needed a place to put the switches, so I took a black LiLi blankout and stuck some switches in the plate. Here's the catch: Each switch has a piece of fiber glued to it which goes the the corresponding led. The leds have holes drilled in the top and the led color matches the cathode color. I have 2 white, 1 blue, and 1 green cathodes. The switches have hole drilled in the front for the fiber and out the back so it sticks out into the led. The leds are lit in line with the cathode. Wadda think?
soon.....I gotta redo the blue and green to match the brightness of the white, so I will take some then
eeeeeheeee thanks man! EDIT: I forgot to say, got some 3000 and 8500 mcd blue and green leds to swap the existing ones out, should be able to match the white quite well I suspect!
Nice black drives....not too shiny, not too dark. Did you do them with vinyl dye? I am going to sound dumb here but why use LEDs and fiber? Wouldn't one or the other work fine? I'm sure I'll get it once its ecplained but for now I remain dumb
thank you and yes, I did them with vinyl dye...The reason for the fiber is that the switches are small and they already came with a white dot at the top to indicate on, but I wanted something to light up, hence the leds and fiber
thats helluva tight, and where did you get or what make is that front I/O panel as well??? looks like it has some nice usefull functions on it mate maybe an idea would be to backlight that TDK blue CD tray with some LEDs??? so it really glows blue??? or is that BL000
I like. In fact I like it so much that I would love to see a wiring diagram and pics about how you put the LEDs in your cathode switches (are the LEDs mounted inside the switch or what is this fiber optic talk all about?). Then maybe I can find a way to make mine look even better than yours. It's going to be tough to do, because your setup looks fantastic!
damn that's nice Phire!... just when I think you're gonna run out of things to do on that case you kick it up one.... more.... notch!
Good job! I might suggest some black electrical tape between the drive slots to block out the lights, maybe.
hmm good idea about the leds...the I/O port is temporary, borrowed it from a friend, but I can find out who makes it!
