is this the Core Duo cpu? as in a C2D is a Core2Duo and this a CoreDuo? or is it a Pentium Dual Core (whatever that is) which is it and how would it compare to a C2D? and for the bang for buck does that look nice? i love that its 12.1".... obviously won't be gaming. just vista or xp-sp2 (most likely as it comes with it and is lower on resources) running photoshop and burning shiz off and browsing etc... will want to run it through my 37" HDTV aswell... will it be able to do this... Oh and what cables do I need? and will it do my 1080i 1366x800 (i think thats right?) resolution? cheers.
Pentium Dual Core. Don't know the price, so can't tell about the 'banging' and 'bucking' part. Don't see why not. Didn't state screen native resolution, graphic card or notebook model. Not sure, what connector does the notebook has? Usually S-Video and require seperate RCA audio wire. Didn't state screen native resolution or graphic card, so can't be sure. A wild guess 1280x1024. moderate consumption is recommended.
sorry i edited it and lol must have took that out... native lappy res is 12.1 inch Wide Screen WXGA Display (1280 × 800) price is £350 delivered.... ` Integrated ATI Xpress 200M Graphics Card. 3× USB2.0, 1× Fast Ethernet, 1× Headphone / Mic, 1× Express Card, 1× VGA, 1× RJ45, 1× IEEE1394a (Firewire), 1× Built in 4-in-1 memory card reader (SD, MS, MS Pro, MMC), 1× DC-IN, thats all spec i have...
General usage like burning music, video, dvd, web, docs spreadsheets, presentation should be sufficient. £350 delivered is actually not bad if it's XP. Probably not with Vista, sucked all the fun out of the laptop. Not sure if there'll be major issues with minor horizontal res. discrepency 1366px vs 1280px. i suspect in most likely case is a video is stretch wider. One thing tho, i'm not sure your HDTV (1080i) resolution is 1366x800. you need to confirm that
Most 720P TVs are 1366*768, which is probably what it is. The laptop will easily be able to run Windows on that and probably DVDs. You may find the tv has VGA in, in which case you will need a vga cable. You will almost certainly need a 3.5mm jack to 2 phono for sound though. Where have you found that laptop?
About the CPU: There is NO such thing as Pentium Dual core. There is only Pentium D and that series doesn't use names like you described (T2130 etc...). I think it's a Core Duo, but I'm not completely sure. Might aswell be a C2D.
Intel disagrees: http://www.intel.com/products/processor/pentium_dual-core/index.htm The Pentium Dual Core processors are essentially just the older Core Duos, marketed as lower-end units. They're not as fast as the C2Ds.
Acording to ark.intel.com, the CPU is based on the Yonah making it a Core Duo. Merom is the core codename for the Core 2 Duo. Yonahs are pretty quick, but have a lower FSB speed and less cache than a Merom. The data sheet can be found here if that sort of thing interests you.
