Well, from my point of view it was inevitable. They were never going to announce it until consoles had their glory though so that people like me don't just go waiting for the PC version.
I would love it if it happened, but I'd be a little surprised. Despite the delay in the console versions, PC versions of GTA have historically appeared 1-2 years AFTER the console version, not a few months. Then again, GTA has also been historically tied to PS2 for Sony's benefit. Now that it's XBOX and PS3, I can see how they may break the exclusivity thing.
GTA3, Vice City and SA came out 4 - 6 months after the console version. All previous versions came out on PC first.
for me it started like that, now its a full on problem. I have my A2 exams starting next week, yet i still have put at least 6 hours gameplay in since saturday. can't wait for gta IV though, that'll pass the time between lectures nicely (if i ever get to uni.....)
The same rumors that have been known about since January. Of course I am hoping and counting on them to be true. Esp since rockstar hasn't denied them. Cant wait to play it.
I'm really looking forward to seeing it on the PC, or rather, really looking forward to seeing it steadily rendered at 60+ fps. Seriously, the consoles pump out a 30-35 fps average at best - which is a major visual drawback for such a title.
i'm not sure about that granted, as i am adamantly anti-console, i have obviously not played IV yet - however i have played III, VC, and SA each several times on PC. I tried with the frame limiter on and off with each. i could not tell that there was a marked difference between a steady 30 fps and 55 - 85 (fraps reported, may not be entirely accurate) fps with it off. the higher framerates, if anything, took away from the cinematic feel of the games.
ATIs 4000 series will be out and Nvidias newer series decent enough ram as well. and good drivers for vid card will make GTA IV for pc, looking nicee
