I'm planning on buying a HD4870 in the next 2-3 weeks. Reviews have shown that coolers that are compatible with the HD3870 are also compatible with the 4870. Now I want to overclock these cards, no questions there, and I want a lot better cooling to do so. So having their similarities, I'll just ask: What is the absolute best aftermarket HD3870 cooler? (I'd prefer it to be non-passive and to only take up two slots total) Thanks, Indybird
in that Japanese review of the 4870 in the other thread I read in there that they are compatible. But I wont take that as 100% credible as its translated, but it would be very nice if they were. Anyways, for my 3870 I use an EK Waterblock. My card idles at around 32C.
no idea. But you need to find a one. But it will not keep up too much. It hit 100C on 100% fan speed. That's is scary.
it's a chinese website review, not Japanese! i always thought die shrink would lower the temperature though.
Dude it was not 100c on the review I was looking at, it was at 82. With a custom cooler it was around 40.
