I'm planning on buying a HD4870 in the next 2-3 weeks. Reviews have shown that coolers that are compatible with the HD3870 are also compatible with the 4870. Now I want to overclock these cards, no questions there, and I want a lot better cooling to do so. So having their similarities, I'll just ask:

What is the absolute best aftermarket HD3870 cooler? (I'd prefer it to be non-passive and to only take up two slots total)

    Thanks,
    Indybird

Got any links to the reviews suggesting the compatibility?

in that Japanese review of the 4870 in the other thread I read in there that they are compatible. But I wont take that as 100% credible as its translated, but it would be very nice if they were.

Anyways, for my 3870 I use an EK Waterblock. My card idles at around 32C.

no idea. But you need to find a one. But it will not keep up too much.

It hit 100C on 100% fan speed. That's is scary.

Dude it was not 100c on the review I was looking at, it was at 82. With a custom cooler it was around 40.
