Hello I think I have got an interresting cooling liquid solution. I have heard so many complaines about problems with growth of things you don't want know what is and corrosion and cooling effect. Now theese ingretients should be EASY to get and not cost too much (I hope) Batterywater (Desinfected, non minaral, non metal water) Cooling liquid (the one for cars yes) Blend as it says on cooling liquid bottle. The big advantage is that cooling liquid (it says on bottle) is germ killing and corrosive protectant and works as water wetter by "eating" acid (oxygen) the battery does not add germs, metal or minerals that can grow or eat on your copper or alu cooler Most cooling liquids have passed tests and is aproved by that and that company(it allso says on the bottle) But read it all before buying You should be able to buy both Water and Cooling Lq at the gas station I must admit I have not tested it but I will in my coming cooling kit Good Luck
Nah, don't do it ... I tried it. Like they said on the bottle ... and my my own mixtures aswell ... In theory it's good, but in the system the mixture just causes foam in your tubing and everywhere and the temps go up to not wanted hights ... but it does look kind of funny though ... all that white foam with a bit of water circulating through your system, hehe ... is this cooling liquid anti-freeze. If it is then battery or de-ionised water is a fairly normal mixture. I still prefer de-ionised water and purple ice.
could you not just use normal water and a chlorine tablet like they use in pools to keep the growing things at bay?
isnt battery water electrolyte? If I'm right you would not only get a galvanic corrosion but depending on the metals in ure system a few Volts!
No - battery water as is being discussed is in fact just regular de-ionised water until it is poured into a battery of course where it becomes an acidic solution. De-ionised is the best type of water to use in watercooling as it is purer than distilled which still will contain some contaminants. I use de-ionised and always will
I used to recondition old batteries by replenishing the contents with distilled water and what I think were Sulphur tablets. When you mix them you get Sulphur DiOxide (sulphuric or 'battery' acid) and Hydrogen (which escapes). Unadulterated distilled water, on the other hand, is fine for your sys. I'm using a mix of distilled water and Silkolene Pro Cool atm but am trying to settle on a good mix ratio. Anyone else tried who's tried this stuff care to comment?
normal water is a better electrolyte than deionised. adding a chlorine tablet to water would not only increase the the electrical conductivity but will turn it acidic so it attacks aluminium. an interesting water replacement would be isopropanol antibacterial(used as surgical spirit),lower viscosity and heat of vapourisation and if it does leak not only will it not short the circuits but clean them too(isopropanol is electronics cleaning solvent at maplin) however it might also catch fire
Why not use PF5080. This proflurient will do everything water can but will not short your circuits. Though admitadly does not absorb heat quite as well but disapates it better.
Just out of curiosity, how exactly does it not absorb heat as well as it dissipates it? I only ask because the same physical processes dependent on the same physical properties of the liquid are responsible for both absorbing and dissipating heat. 8-ball
Another question: how is a mix of battery water and cooling liquid a "new" cooling solution? Aren't we just talking about de-ionised water with a corrosion inhibitor like, say, water wetter, G12 or Zerex Racing? It's been used in PC water cooling for years-- nothing new about it...
