on another question my old PC i've got an audigy 2 soundcard, will this be better than onboard sound and still be compatible with my new mobo and new games?

also what additional cables will I need? do I need power cables? is it the standard power cables that PC's have always used still? and any thoughts on the monitor i've chose?

I think that onboard sound card on your new motherboard will be better choice... But how old is your "old" computer? If it is not so old then... Try that sound card out...

well its an audigy 2 soundcard....just didn't know if a dedicated soundcard would be better tha onboard sound?

    Old pc is p4 3ghz
    Radeon 9800 pro
    1gb Corsair Ram
    Audigy 2 soundcard
    Lian Li PC60 case
    19" iiyama CRT

cant remember mobo or psu, but it had a 250gb and a 125gb HD in it which I will be taking out of it and putting into my new system as backup.

Was a good PC back in its day :)

The onboard sound on modern motherboards these days are usually very good. Usually 8 channel audio etc. I'm not sure if it will be better than the audigy 2 though...

the amount of channels means nothing, its the codec they use, if its still an AC'97 then start running away from it!
