This is probably a silly question but I cant seem to find them after searching a number of electronic parts sites, ie AllElectronics. What are the connecters used on the ends of the leds and switches that connect to a mobo header. You know, the 2, 3, and 4 pin female things? I would like to get a bunch of them but dont even know a name to look up. Thanks in advance
something like this? http://www.basicx.com/Products/Jumpers/jumper.htm edit: BTW, they're called header wires (plug into the header posts).
If you're near dayton, mendelsons has some on the electronics floor that can be modded... They're short and the ends are a bit bulky, but they work for an isolated pair, if you need to put them next to each other then they need to be cut/shaved down a little... If you're nice or get the right guy you can get them for a nickel, or most of the time they're a dime...
thanks to y'all Ya CrazyJester, next time i visit my padres I'll swing by dayton. They live in Troy and I live in Columbus. Thanks for yer help everyone.
How many of the things do you need? I mean, I got a box of S*** (Stuff) a mile deep full of stuff like that... header wires, jumpers, led holders, and they would fit in an envelope, if ya know what I mean, I only live in Michigan, so it's not that far off...
if you're looking for just the parts, with no wires or anything, jameco sells all that kind of stuff, you'll have to mail order though. Here are the part numbers for 1x2, 1x3, and female pins, they sell tons of sizes though so just look around. 1x2 connector, #100811 1x3 connector, #157382 Female pin for above connector, #100765
Surely Maplins? If not try someone like www.totalrobots.com they can supply them (for use on robotics projects.)
The header posts are called 'pin strips' or search for 'jumper' and it will pop up...BUT NO HEADER WIRES!!! DAMN!!!!! How come it is so hard to find these in the UK??? Mike
Farnell Parts List: Header 2Row x 4 : 511791 Header 1Row x 4 : 511791 Header Plug 1x2 : 1833200 Header Plug 1x4 : 1833224 Crimp pins for Header plug (AWG22-26) : 1825446 My recent order is for those part nos.!!! Came to 15 quid lol... Mike
if you're in the states check this out: bgmicro.com LED's on a wire they're capped at one end with the female connector (3 pin) header, which you can easily change to a 2 pin one (by pulling up the plastic tab and sliding out the wire/clip) and at the other end a fast-change LED holder, just pull out the crappy green rectanglular LED and replace with a led of your choice Similar to the leads on a lianli (i believe they have these) and the antec/chenming/chieftec cases LEDs
