    You mean 5,9cm with fans?

But it needs at least 3cm over it to suck in air, and a few cm under to spitt it out. So 10cm wouldn't be too bad?

    30mm with air in + 25mm FAN + 34mm Swiftech Rad + 20-25mm air out = ca 115mm...
Actually its more than 10cm, about 11-12cm.
But I guess I don't need 30mm with air in, but it shore helps.
A HW Lab Rad will give me 0,5cm better space...

I'll have to think a bit more... or use the slim rad. :p
    Thank you for helping!

Mmm... Could you fit the rad in the door? Maybe covered with a smooth bulb shape shell?

About gap to suck air, I don't remember the brand now (thermaltake?) but what about those fans with cuts on their perimeter, to suck air noiseless?

:eek:lol!! aye thats what i meant!!:wallbash:  :thumb:(5.9cm!!!) but surley if the rad is on the top then you would have tht space.. if it was located on th bottom then you wouldnt have that amount of space for intake anyway!!

I don't feel like destroing the design I alreaddy have, but I'll take it into consideratoin.

Ahh, thats not a bad idea! You mean fans that look like this:
Only that they exhaust the air out the big hole, not the side?
If I can find some in 120mm, or close to that, and thay have a good CMF, it would be perfect!
    Thanks a lot!

If I add a bracket for the rad on the top I might be able to do this, I just have to see if I have space for the DHD in the other side of the top. I'll try do make something in SketchUp this weekend, and see what it will look like!
    Thanks!

Nope. I didn't mean blowers... wait a minute...

    Searching...

I've found it! This, from an old project of mine. Look the fan.

A blower is not a bad idea, but are small, like the one in your pic. And, perhaps, using a duct?

You think I need a special fan, or can I just cut away some of the sides on a couple of Scythe fans?
My instincts tells me that this will ruin the good air flow, but I don't actually have a clue....
If I can do this, without any damage, I can reduse the space to about 1cm with intake air, perhaps... And the feets will not be that tall. :D

I don't know. It looks like a standard fan (blades) with a special frame. But, as you, i don't have clues about if cutting (or making holes) a stock fan will do the same, or can totally ruin it.

Another problem could be, as you can see, they have holes for screws, only in one side.

Okey, I'll just have to try this with some cheap fans then. I'll mod some this weekend and see how it goes. :p

    Thanks a lot!
Takeing a look at the specs I see it has a pretty good CFM too. It suprized me a bit, but it's perfect for using on a rad!
    Thanks again!

    Thanks dude!

    Mini Update!

I've finally had time and inspiration to do som work on my mod again.

I've been trying to attatch the doors for some time, nearly two months actually, but I just couldn't get it right. Everything got messed up when I tried to do something.
It's a bit wierd that the day I finally got it right was Friday the 13th...

I have to admit that the thing that saved me was a tip from a fellow modder, so I owe him a great deal of gratitude.
He asked me if pianohings could work, and it worked great!
I've been trying to use normal hings, and this was what made my life misserable for some while, so that tip was a real lifesaver!

Last weekend I bought some pianohings, so I startet my work again today.

Here you can se what the hing looks like when I bought it:

This is how I planned to attatch it:

This hings can be cut wherever you want, which is quite brilliant. So I just cut them to the right length and attatched them to the doors and case:

    It works! :D
    [IMG]

This is what it will look like when both doors are open at the same time:

    What do you guys tink?

I'm really happy I've finally got to do some work on this mod again at least!

    Whoa! :eeek:
Those doors look great. And after looking at your drawings, I can't wait to see the finished case.

    Plexi time!

I couldn't wait with the plexi untill I was 100% finished with the frame, so I had to start working with some plexi this morning. :D

Here's one of the 6 pieces of white plexi I have, measuring 50cm x 50 cm:
Oh, I do know my workbench is a mess, but I have some clue of where everything is at any given time... It's in the pile of things somewhere. :p

I started to cut the back of my case:

When I had finished the back and the front, I started to cut the doors:

To get the angle on the door right I made a piece of wood at an angle of 40 degrees:

Then I could just clamp the plexi and wood together and start heating:

When the plexi had been given some time to cool down, I was left with this:

I had to test fit the pieces before I was finished for the day:

I think I will be able to make the second door in a couple of days, and I have to find a good way to attatch the top too...
I believe I will do some more work on the doors too the next week.

Thank you very much for kind words! I really appreciate it!
