Just a quick post to celebrate me, after 2 weeks of buses and walking, getting my scooter back from the garage! I'm quite pleased with the service too. The original quote was about £400 but somehow I managed to get away with paying £286.18. They fixed all my little niggling problems too such as a cross threaded screw on the fairings and an indicator that flashed irratically. The thing is it sounds completely different to when I first bought it second hand. It sounds like any other scooter now which I'm not too keen on, obviously its original more powerful sounding noise was due to the engine being knackered. It's much quicker now too, was taking it easy as he said it needed to be run in, and was still far quicker than before. Now I can get back to earning money, first job tonight...... Finally just have to say w00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i love it yours has started working properly & mine is losing speed its stuggaling to get up hills & stuff like that
That's how mine started out sam. It was struggling to get to 40mph and did about 10 up a hill before I took it in. Today I had the needle nudging 60! That's with no extra tuning, stock exhaust, just fully de-restricted now. The problem was basically that the engine was knackered. The annoying thing is the bike was brand new December '01, and I've owned it since about June so I wasn't expecting any major problems. According the the invoice, the 5 hours labour costing £175 was... Remove engine & strip completely Fit new main bearing & seals, re-assemble Re-fit engine & set-up Re-fill & bleed cooling system Replace transmission rollers Road test Then there was a few parts on top of that. I'm well chuffed now though as it's better than when I got it and even the electric start works again. Good luck with yours though sam, hope it's something less serious for you.
Just out of interest what engine size can you ride legally and at what stages of your life/tests can you ride them?
man, your guys motorcycle rules are messed up......from the day i got my licence i could ride any size bike i want, when i wanted to.....ide have gone crazy if i had to buz around on a little 50cc scooter (im sure ide look real good on one to at almost 6'1" 230 pounds).....
At my age (16), I can only ride a 50cc which legally must be restricted to 30mph. The upside of that is that you don't need a licence you just do a days training at a cost of around £80. You do however need insurance, costing around £300, and you must wear a helmet. The next bit I'm not sure about... At 17 you can get your bike licence, but are then limited to a 125 I think. After a couple of years you are aloud to move upto something bigger. If you take your bike test over a certain age, 21 I think, you can take a direct access test to ride any bike you want. It is a bitch having to ride this 50 but it is fast enough to keep up with traffic around town but it's better than walking until I'm 17.
At 17 your can ride any 125cc bike with a provisional licence, for upto 2 years, if you take your test during this time you can then move upto 400cc at 17. im 17 and on a 400cc bike. after that you can really ride what you like, if your over 17, and take your test you can ride any bike under 650cc i think, for 2 years than ride what you wish.
Don't take the michael I'm only 16, you just wait till i get me nova with sum phat weels a big zorst ill smoke ur ****ty alfa init
It can't be true, all anyone talks about at college is getting their cars next year, I'd be gutted if they did change it though.
um...scooters??? you poor chaps...here in the states you can ride a new Honda CBR 600RR when you turn 16 if ya wanna! Of course you guys have all of the really kewl super motards over there.
LoL my sisters got a Nova with some "phat wheels" takes 9 seconds to get to 60, and tops out at around 90-100, lol good luck on smoking him at 130, if it was me of course i would swap a calibra 16v engine with the novas, then it would be like a go kart
The only thing my car has in common with a nova is the last letter of what is reffered to.... NOVA - ALFA I openly challenge any *basic* nova! Not any of these Max power souped up things, if your going to spend 10-20k on a nova, why not just buy a car that's worth 10-20k ?
