i got 2 pcs at home

one is good, no need for upgrades

second is not that graet, and planning an upgrade soon, very soon

    first cpu

i'm planning to use an amd cpu, just because its cheaper

i probobly will get AMD Athlon XP 1700+

but i check in one store and i found two versions one is .13 micron and one is .18 micron

    .13 micron version
    .18 micron version

i think that .13 micron is better, but will it work in this motherboard AOPEN Motherboard for Socket A Processors, Model# AK77-8XN

AOPEN Motherboard for Socket A Processors, Model# AK77-8XN

    i'm also gonna get MICRON/MICRON ORIGINAL 512MB 64x64 PC2100 DDRAM RAM

and i got Thermaltake Volcano 9 in my house oready

do you guys think that this will do? i don't want anything top noth

I would go for the .13 micron as it reduces the temperature of the cpu. I think you should get the ASUS A7V333 as i know that does support the cpu and is @ a very good price :D and also the aopen will be a little more expensive because of the KT400 chipset. On a memory note i find crucial the best but what you said will do!

    yeah that the one

what i don't understant .13 micron is smaller then .18 micron, so it still will fit on that mobo?

and work fine with the heatsink that i posted

.13 micron is the track size on the chip.

The chip is still mounted on the same size and socket type as the .18 micron chip.

It will work fine on almost any Socket A motherboard.

    Set the FSB to 133mhz. You have it set at 100mhz right now (XP 1700 = 1466mhz = 133x11. 11x100 = 1100mhz)
