I went out early the other morning and managed to get a couple of nice shots from the woods near derwent resevoir in the peak district. C and C welcome.

    1. Actually an HDR, getting the high/low lights was a challenge without it.

i have to say that the is some fantastic use of HDR. I would say you have the levels just right.

In the first photo i keep seeing a face for where the sun is which is really cool but also kinda freaky in a way but this doesn't detract from the photo at all as its almost like a strange feature that makes you look at it more.

Both shots are very nice. In shot 2, I really wish there was a greater point of interest though. I/e a person or SOMETHING standing next to that rock there. my 2c.

I almost agree. I would think a forest animal of some sort, such as a deer or fox, but a person would seem out of place there. Set up the way it is, it's more of a picturesque scene of nature. With a person in it, posed or not, I think it would detract from the more "wild" aspect of the shot.

Focus point is the pile of stones... I think #2 is a great serene shot. One of the most interesting photographs I've seen in a while.

Hmm, i think I agree that an animal/person would have been a better focal point but i think i scared all the animals away with my huffing and puffing trying to get up the hills.
