I have a few other ones where I shot using tripod and natural lighting but I ended up using flash and reflector for this one: Larger sizes available on the flickr.
It's really nice with some excellent detail, but I think it could use a tiny bit more DOF to get the whole of the guy in focus. How big was it BTW?
Nice Orb Weaver, OleJ. Could use a levels/curves bump to brighten it up as it seems a touch underexposed on my monitor, you also have a few dust buddies on there as well Finally, spider warnings are for sissies. Matt
This guy was 4-5mm long IIRC. I shot it at f/9, 1/250th (handheld) and ISO800. First I tried using the tripod and natural light then I finally went for the flash. Thanks for the name Vers That's cool to know. I should get myself a book about insects and start collecting but I think I'll wait until my initial collection is a bit larger before I become a collector Cheers
4-5mm, really? I've heard of them being hat small--most weavers around these parts are about ~25mm. What did you shoot it with?
It was shot with the Sigma 150 at it's closest focal range. Since Denmark isn't so warm our bugs are mostly quite small.
