hmmm, maybe try uninstalling punkbuster and then reinstalling it. Is it the error that says failed to make a connection to PnkBstrB.exe ? I've had that before, and I think an uninstall of pb and reinstall fixed it, not entirely sure as it was a while ago.
this is gonna sound crazy how do you unistal it, its not in the uninstal list. It is that error darn annoying.
Hum, i know i was on an Official EA server and the game just crashed to desktop, no warnings or errors. Sam
Theres an app on the punkbuster website somewhere I'm sure. I can't see how they could find out without looking at pb screenshots. So I suppose its only if they suspect you might be cheating, then take a screenshot, then they find out that its a blank screenshot.
Well I reinstalled BF2 after removing it thoroughly and the problem is still persistent. Anyone else experiencing it? Update: I can't have any AA enabled otherwise I get missing textures. >.<
It was the Band Of Brothers server i got booted from , i think it was the admin that booted me not PBSTR.. tried playing without AA but after playing with 8XAA no AA at all is akin to double vision , played a couple of rounds on Highway Tampa last night , love this map sooo many tanks...... i'm heckler1968 on bf2 say hi if you bump into me out there....
I had this 2 years ago, luckily I remember how to fix it. Easy to fix! I did this on Windows XP SP2. Find the EXE, and right click it, select properties. Click the compatibility tab. Check the compatibility mode check box and select "Windows 2000". Click apply. Start BF2, if it starts, log in, then exit the game. Go back to the EXE and uncheck "compatibility mode". Re-try BF2. It should work fine for about 2 weeks when you may have to do this again.
So umm... i can still hardly shoot anyone. Others seem to manage just fine, is there some trick to this? Are the sights off or something? (i seem to be hitting more without the sights). This is really frustrating as i perform decently (or excellent) in all other FPS games but here i can empty two mags into someone from 20 meters away and they'll just laugh at me and take me down with a single burst. What gives?
I'd like the answer to that question as well. I've got up behind someone and taken a fair few headshots at someone andI know they have hit becuase I'm so close but still they swing round and drop me like a stone with two shots. It's either cheating or a complete flaw in the game. I'm no expert player but I know I'm better than that.
Woot. Downloading this as we speak. Stopped playing it ages ago when i went to vista and it wouldn't run with 2gb of ram. Cant wait there has been a void in my life
I really should use fraps to record some of those moments - could make for a funny video. I've had this happen with knife hits so often on a stationary sniper for instance. The BF series always had wack hit detection and netcode. We should be thankful it's not as bad as BF:Vietnam back in the M60/LAW days! BF2 works really well when you have a low ping - hits register well and things feel right. If yourself or your target have high ping, that's when things get funky and you get weird stuff happening like no hit detection and re-reloading. It's because what you are seeing isn't necessarily what is happening. That's what makes it so frustrating - it's almost like playing an FPS by email or something.
I've found that the best strategy is to always switch to single shot if you can, and just fire singles shots at a time, burst and 'spraying' are extremely inaccurate unless your unscoped and at point blank range. What EvilRusk said about pings would make sense as to why I've been playing awesomely on some servers and then really really really really crap on others. I've started pulling the pistol out for point blank/sneaking up behind people shots as I need to get the Basic Pistol badge (5 pistol kills in 1 round) and then I also need the basic knife comat badge (7 kills in 1 round, )
Someone give us a screen shot or two, I watch that vid in the 2st post, however don't remember the graphics been that crap. If it looks good I'll give it a go
