Hey, a friend of mine currently has l4d and TF2 having a case of the source stutter after a recent update they think. CSS apparntly runs okay and garry's mod.

They've reinstalled TF2, same problem. Is there any fixes or suggestions people can think of?

i.e deleting every source based game and steam and fresh reinstallation of the source engine?

    or anything. Cheers

try fresh gfx drivers, failing that, re-install steam and update using download content only, dont backup local files as you'll just be copying the problem if it is software based.. also, any more information on whet you mean stutter? slow frame rates? bad load times, etc?

I've seen stutter in Steam games when having the friends chat window open in the background. Try minimizing that and it may help.

Try verifying the integrity of the game cache - it may have fragmented itself over time.

Other than that, new GPU drivers often help.

    Don't know if this helps?
