I have 2 x 1gb stick of Kingston DDR2 667 memory (matched pair). Both sticks work on their own but not togethor, I have tested in two different motherboards?

I'll still running memtest v3.3, but in the meantime just curious if anything blatant might spring to anyones mind?

Well I'm at a loss no errors on either stick using memtest v 3.3.

If I put either stick in dimm1 the PC posts fine. Add the 2nd stick and it wont post?

Have you checked that they are a matched pair?

How long did you run memtest for?

I am wondering if it might be an issue with timings. If it was a hardware fault memtest should pick it up quite quickly.

What motherboards are you using to test the memory and what memory timings are they set to?

Try running it at lowest timings and speed for a fail-safe test...

Tried it in an MSI K9A2 CF and a (replacement...arrgh) Asrock K10N78M, purchased yesterday. Dunno' about timings, never play with those settings. Always leave on default?

    Will do.

Check what CPU-Z says about your memory. You will need to look at the memory tab.

Check that all the settings are the same with each stick.

Then go to the SPD tab and manually set up to the slowest settings shown.

As the DRAM frequency increases the timings should decrease, but for a matched pair I would have expected the timings to be the same.

Have a look at the SPD Tab. See if there are settings that are common to both sticks and manually set your BIOS to those settings.

Have you tried running a single stick in each DIMM on the motherboard?

I think he means, have you tried a single working stick in each of the slots? Could be a motherboard DIMM slot that is bust.

Worth giving each slot on the motherboard a try as SMC and antasari suggested.

Have you tried to update the BIOS on the motherboard? Could be a compatibility issue.

By lowest, do you mean loosest (i.e. highest numbers)?

Yup, that's what I meant. As far as I could tell the OP hadn't tried that yet.

Only 2 dimm slots, the PC wont post with just RAM in slot 2. Slot one must be filled I thought full stop?

    Bios is upto date v1.5

Ive tried setting the timings as indicated under the SPD tab as the screenshots, i.e 3,3,3,9,12 - 4,4,4,12,16 & 5,5,5,15,20. Ive also tried increasing the DRAM voltage from 1.8v to 2.2v

Ive been pissing about with this ******* thing for 24hrs.

    Thanks for the help chaps........Grrrrrrrr.
