Looking to get a new graphics card, preferably under $200.

I'm truly torn between the 4890 and the 5770, and most likely am not going Crossfire. (But perhaps possibly in the future)

I have a Phenom II X4 940, 4gb RAM, and a 700W PSU, all in an Antec 900, so no worries there - just looking for some bit-tech help. Thanks!

Unless you are really bothered about the power consumption angle, get the 4890 as you'll get a lot more bang for your buck. DX11 is still not worth investing in really- especially not at its current price point and with Fermi just on the horizon (apparently).

If you don't care about power consumption or noise, go 4890. If you do it's a little more difficult.

if your going to crossfire in the future then i would go for the 5770, the power consumption on a pair of 4890's will be quite hefty

I would suggest going with the 5770.

The 4890 does give more performance but also costs more. The 5770 offers lower power consumption and temperatures. It also has the bonus of being DX11 compatible and according to Wikipedia there will be a few DX11 games coming out over the next year.

The price of the 5770 is not as inflated as the likes of the 5850 and 5870. You can pick up a Sapphire 5770 Vapour X on Newegg for $175.

I'd say go for the HD5770 if only because I haven't seen ATi's rabbit out of hat driver moment yet.
