So I've just finished putting together my pc, and attached the dvi lead. The message appears on the monitor 'no video input'. Any idea what this might be? Thanks for the help in advance. EDIT I've noticed that the fan at the rear of the gpu (no sure whether this means that the gpu is therefore fine) is working so it could be a motherboard issue?
if your screen has more than one input, is it set to the right one? And if it does have more than one, do you have a different cable that you could use to test? Any bleeps, strange lights, etc from anything?
Thanks for the help. I don't have any other parts because this is my first build. Also, I don't hear any beeps when starting up, is that a problem?
Sounds like a problem I had with my first build: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=163072 It's probably a dead stick of ram causing you grief.
Thanks for the help but taking out taking out one of the ram sticks didn't work either. To sum up, the heatsink is working and the gpu is emitting a minimal amount of air through the back vent. I have tried the gpu in a different pci slot, using a different monitor and only one stick of ram. Anymore help would be greatly appreciated.
hmm maybe this could be my problem, does this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/173451 motherboard support dvi sockets? As I have a 5850.
Phoned Asus support and they suggested the motherboard could be faulty, as a I get beeps when there is no ram but not when there is no graphics cards and therefore the guy suggested the motherboard wasn't getting as far as the pci slots. Does this seem like a reasonable?
