    Wow, lemme see...

My first was an Intergraph Voodoo Rush chipset card, PCI I believe. Did a decent job with Microprose's M1 Tank Platoon...;)

Then on to a 3dfx Voodoo 3 / 3000 PCI, Nvidia MX 440, Ti4200, 6600 GT AGP, 7600 GS OC AGP, 8600 GTS OC PCI-E, twin 9800 GT's, and finally my two BFG GTX 260 Maxcore 55nm 216 core cards in SLI.

I've never owned an ATI card, but given the right incentive I might.

For now, no upgrades in the near future.

    8800 GT

    I'm a noob, haha.
This is the first computer I've had that can play modern games, so I'm still running my trusty ~1.25 year old 8800. <3

First card I bought was the Diamond SpeedStar A55 (s3 trio) I got that so I could play a dos game. My first 3d card was the 3DFX Voodoo and then a Matrox Mystique followed by a 12mb Voodoo 2

First real gaming card was a 4mb ATI Xpert @ Play, thought it was quite good, followed shortly after by an e-on tronics 16mb lilith banshee which I was absolutely stunned by when running nfs-porsche2000. Unfortunately the card didnt last long (kept freezing during porsche2000), so it was back to the old 4mb.

Currently running sapphire 4870X2 recently modded with arctic cooling accelero xtreme cooler (must have for 4870x2 if you want to hear games, not to mention the staggering heat difference).

This is the 3rd card I have shelled out more than 300 quid for. First was Geforce 6800GT which the molex power connector burned a bit. Second was a 8800GTX and now this one. Great fps though.

I had one of the Diamond Stealth 64 cards in my first proper PC, first graphics card I bought myself was a Radeon 9500 - I couldn't get it working which is how I ended up here :D.

Seconded! Though I'm not sure if I had 9200 or 9250.. Not like it made a huge difference anyway, both were rubbish.

    First PC I gamed on was a Gateway my Dad bought to upgrade from our old Win3.1 machine. It had a 8mb Rage 128 in it but it couldn't play Hitman 2 so I bought a 128Mb 9200 :D Very good times, GTAIII cheesecake! Since then;

x800 (in the laptop I got to go to college with)
6600 (in my parents current PC)
XFX 1Gb 4890 (bought last December for my first and current complete build)

Thinking I'll skip the 5xxx/4xx generation, wait for some 6xxx prettyness. Can't afford 3 upgrades per generation unlike some of you lucky lucky people :grr:

IIRC, it was a TNT2. A while after that I had an old Geforce MX400 (my parents wanted cheapness over quality).

Amazingly, that card is still in my family PC at home. I had a laptop for years which I did all my gaming on, until I was finally earning enough money to build my first PC. Jumping from playing on a lappy to having a GTX 260 under the hood was a beautiful experience. :p

NVIDIA geForce2 MX400, in my ancient (and only) homebuild desktop. And, boy, was I glad it was still working after three years in mothballs when my laptop power supply died a few weeks ago :D

Not entirely sure, but I seem to remember:

Rage 3D coupled with a Voodoo 2 and later another Voodoo 2!
Followed by a Voodoo3 (which I ended up killing with watercooling and a peltier)
Geforce 3 Ti-something (never did watercool this one)
Geforce Ti4600 (endured heavy overclocking and watercooling, and still runs in a friends rig)
Radeon 9800 (which ended up forever making me skeptical of ATI cards)
Geforce 6800U (watercooled and heavily overclocked - still lives aparently)
Geforce 7800 (overclocked and watercooled, still lives in father-in-law's rig)
Geforce 8800GTS (overclocked and watercooled, still lives I think)
Geforce 9800GX2 (presumed dead, sits on my shelf - may test it some day)
and now a GTX285 (watercooled when I get to move my computer back down to the computer room)

    hmmm...my gaming rig huh?

Well, i never really owned my "own" pc until quite recently, since the ones before were just my mums even the laptops so i never really called it my personal computer let alone a gaming one...

i did some research and built my own but i made some mistakes such as buying the 4870 from Asus which is the DK version since it overheats badly and keeps crashing my games, and I bought 3GB which I notice nowadays that it is not enough since I multitask a lot.... and the choice of choosing the Antec Nine Hundred Two instead of the Twelve Hundred was not that of a great choice either...

but then i will probably build a new one based on the X68, or just upgrade the parts that i have now...

Wow... Granted I've only read the first and last pages of this thread but I feel old. My first was a Diamond Monster3D card (first generation Voodoo!!!) and the only reason I got it was for GLQuake!

And to add some humour I've still got a pair of original Voodoo2 cards in an old ass dos box running in SLI. :)

Not entirely sure which was the first 'proper' 3d card i owned, i did have a 3dfx card at one point (with the pass-through cable), but one of the earliest 2d/3d cards was a Creative 3d Blaster Banshee http://www3.dealtime.com/xPF-Creative-Labs-3D-Blaster-Banshee-20154387

"Creative Labs' 3D Blaster Banshee just blew into town on a howling wind. This PCI card brings amazing 3D acceleration and terrific 2D image quality to your PC, courtesy of the Voodoo Banshee chipset. The first 2D/3D combo chipset from 3DFX, the Voodoo Banshee inherits its speedy processor core architecture from the legendary Voodoo2, adds support for fast SDRAM, and brings true 128-bit graphics to the table"

I don't think the S3 virge or Matrox Mystique cards counted even through I had a version of Mechwarrier 2 tuned for the Matrox, and a version of Descent for the S3.
The Canopus Pure 3D voodoo1 chipset card I had might count.
