After a few days without the Dremel I start to grind the backplate.
I think for an acceptably result is a little more putty necessary.

Now that stuff can dry a little while.

As long as the putty take a break, I give the circuit-board some attention.

This switch is to chose between FM - AM - Phono - Aux.
    Not really necessary any more.
I only need the "Tape / Play" and the Aux canal. To switch between
them I can use the monitor-button
    [IMG]

Of course I need to bridge the AUX-contacts
    [IMG]

Meanwhile the putty is dry. I think it's good enough now.

    Again I get some Hardware.
A Silent Pro M600 PS and 3 120mm Silent Fans.
For that stuff a big THANK YOU to COOLERMASTER

Of course the mainboard can't hover on the airstream.

To close the gap (23mm) I use some of this bushings.

After I cut them to the right length it looks like that:

The drive need some attention to.
Needless to say that I need to move the Button and the LED.

    4 screws later:

Again I can show that it is good to save old and no more necessary parts.
    This ribbon cable..

...is a perfect donor for the needed wires.

Nothing to say. You now what it is.

The connectors will find a good neighbourhood on the side of the originals...

    Done.

Today I start with the side panels.
The are 10mm thick and a little bit bigger the I need them.

I start with the lower radius on the front side.

    Fits perfectly!

Because my jig saw is close to his end... I need to work with the file.
The time is ripe fore some new tools!
    But see for yourselves:

Today I spend again some time with the circuit board.
Here are the potentiometer and the switch still on the board.

To get an new layout on the front panel the have to move.

An other problem is the wiring.

Like this it is a lot cleaner.

I also start to solder the new wires on the switch.

Such a lovely project, I really like the clean lines and how you also make new casing for the amp to match.

Nice bending work. You took quite a break on this project.

BTW, I love Germany. I've never quite been up in the area you are from, but I was down by Kaiserslautern a couple of years ago for almost a month. I've visited family up near Hannover though. My parents are both originally from Germany, and I wish i could find a way to live there.

...and I wish i could find a way to live outside. :D

    Today only a small update.
To hold the bord in place I use two bolts on bouth sides.

With some nuts it's better than original.

This are the extant connectors. PC / Aux input an the terminals for 1 pair of speaker.

To cut the openings fore the Power - Supply I use a peace from the old backplate.

That is a perfect template for the DREMEL.

    The actual status.

At this point: A big Thank You to Bosch for the confidence and the support with some new tools.

Tool sponsership is way cooler than PC hardware. The hardware will go out of date in no time, the tools with be with you for years...

Wow on the Bosch sponsorship. I've been building up my tool collection, mainly buying DeWalt. Bought some Bosch Holesaws that are excellent.
The detail work is looking great, can't wait for some long shots

To find a good position for the DVD I mount the new Harware.

At this point a big THANK YOU for the support
MSI for the Mainboard(890GXM-G65) , Cooler Master for the PS (Silent Pro M600) and the Fans (Ultra Silent Fan 120)
and Samsung for the HDD (HD103SJ 1T).

This position ist not the best for the wirering, but it's close to my firs drawing.

    First some lines...

    The point of new return!

    A few minutes later.

Just to satisfy my curiosity one 3mm LED. Later I use more
    [IMG]

    And with a black frontpanal

Here is a final pic from the SlotIn
    [IMG]

To hold the side panels in place I use some aluminium brackets.

First the holes (3x 5,5mm) for the bolts to the panels...

... than rivet the profiles to the bottom
    [IMG]

Fore the upper brackets I bend one end...

    and screwed them in place.
The HT1 printout are my "template" to cut the logo.

    This size will act perfect
    [IMG]

Again a point of no return. :D
    [IMG]

More aren't possible with the 38mm cutting wheel
    [IMG]

Looks gross, but the file will fix it.

    Again a illumination test:

    The actual look
