does anyone have any experiance of the above cooler, was thinking it ideal from other review ive read for my i7-920 as would like to overclock but wouldn't dare use the intel ref cooler. Thanks in advance for any info!
Good cooler's But I would wait for the H70. http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Cors...rformance-CPU-Cooler-LGA1156-1366-775-AM2-AM3
And they are a good £30 more expensive than the H50. Unless it delivers £30 more cooling, then the H50 remains viable.
I have a H50 and I've ran it in a few cases and on a few CPU's. I first ran it in a Antec 900 with 1 Scythe Gentle Typhoon on an E8400 that was overclocked to 4.36Ghz. I used the H50 to replace a Freezer7 and under a 12 hour stress test in Prime95 I saw no difference in the temperatures (around 60-65c) between the Freezer7 and the H50 (Exhaust and Intake). I then upgraded to a 930 and an Antec 1200, keeping my H50 as my cooler. I overclocked my 930 to 4.11GHz using 2 Scythe Gentle Typhoon's this time and I get about 45oc idel and 80oc under load in Prime95. I'm only running at a CPU Voltage of 1.28125v and the H50 has become my bottleneck of my OC at it hits the mid 80's at 4.2Ghz. If you're running a chip with a lower TDP (65W-95W) it's an excellent cooler, in the right case. I'd be tempted to look into the Titan Fenrir or Thermaltake Frio as CPC has given them good reviews, but I don't know how they stack up agains't the H50 in real world tests.
For me the H50 has been good and is better than a titan fenrir. ive got a 920 @ 4Ghz with HT on. i get idles of 35-40C and 70-75 under load using intake method with push/pull
I've got one setup in push-pull with 2 silent eagle 2000 SE's. Really good and really quiet with these fans. Idle about 37 per core and doesn't get above 65 per core at full load. But for someone looking at them now I'd say wait till BT/CPC has reviewed and done some of those lovely tests they are so good at doing.
H50 does a fine job at cooling. I have one myself on an i5 750. H70 is slightly expensive in my opinion but will wait till I see a comparison before I say anymore.
i have one on a i7 920 @ 3.8ghz and works well but if i was looking to buy today then i would check reviews of the h70 to see if its worth spending a bit more
Well from some reviews I've read it seem's that the H70 is around 3c on idle and around 10c on load better than the H50, But having two fan's and twice the thickness rad makes it bulkier and noisier.
replace the fans with higher quality quieter fans like most people have done. The Sharkoon Silent Eagles I've put on mine are only £11.73 each from scan
The issue I have with the H70 is it looks like the 2 barbs that rotate are made from plastic so they may break...
I don't like em. They seem silly when other air coolers at the same and lower price do as good and better a job of cooling.. Plus there is no risk of pump failure or leakage. (not that i have heard these complaints yet) All in all though they don't make sense to me unless you want to save space around the cpu for some reason.
Unless you are dropping your computer and bouncing it around the floor then why would any of the coolers break boards?
Well, I move mine to and from uni half a dozen times a year, and because of the state of the roads, I have to remove my TRUE, which then requires removing the motherboard to refit. Having a H50 would eliminate this problem completely.
