because dirt 2 (a dx11 game, not dx9) runs like a dream on my system at 1650 by 1080 with all maximum settings, as does race driver grid.
I hooked up my PC to my TV yesterday and played it at 1920x1080 and I thought it looked rather good. But then I am used to playing games at 1366x768 on my monitor! But more importantly, I thought the gameplay was excellent as it reminded me of Hot Pursuit 2 and NFS2SE, and shouldn't that be more important than the graphics? Of course this thread is about the graphics though.
I can think of plenty of games that require a lot of power from hardware for no good reason. Oblivion is a good example; nobody could run it very well for ages, but not that its easy to max out you can see there are some parts of the game that give low FPS regardless of hardware. Its just a badly optimised engine, as far as I'm aware. I'm fairly confident a similar thing is going to be seen with Crysis in a few years. Oh, there are also bits in Titan Quest which reduce my PC to 15-20fps, despite my shiny new 6870.
The graphics look alright to me. At first I thought they looked bad but on the whole the graphics are quite good.
