    Hi guys,

I have a netbook that I only use for programming and writing and so only needs to have a CLI (also, the touchpad sucks major balls and using it is a massive chore).

Anyway, I'm looking for a decent CLI-only linux distro (or a distro that gives me that option).

There's a catch, though -- it needs to have at least 256 color support. I don't want to be working out of an 8 color shell or I'll go blind.

I've tried Ubuntu, but their text mode is configged only for old computers, it seems, and getting anything above 8 colors requires endless amounts of farting about that never seems to pay off.

Archlinux is your best bet, installs the absolute minimum and then takes you through the config and from there the beginners guide will help you easily understand exactly how to tweak to your needs with no pain.
