    Just spotted this - http://hw-lab.com/some-details-amd-radeon-hd-6900-series-leaked.html

seems that a closed AMD conference was leaked, aw what a shame :D

from what I can garner 1920 SP 30 SIMD 32 ROP 2 Gig GDDR 5 GPU, seems to split (dual core anyone?)

should be a monster, (there is an estimated €350 guide price?) rather puts Nvidia to the sword if true.

how big of jump is that spec in comparason to the current ATI generation, in laymans terms?

Edit: My bad some of the numbers are down a ways in that page.
Computational power over integers has doubled together with x4 increase of performance over floating point operations.

I had a bad feeling about the 6970 and this only confirms it. It's a shame as the 6870 performance indicated a trend of very high performance.

    /baseless speculation

Wading thru the www, considered opinion has it those premptive benches have been done with cat 10.11, which isn't even an optimised 68xx driver.

I wouldn't rush to judgement just yet,

from what we can see, it is a fixed 5870.

i find it funny to see how people claim gtx 580 is a fixed gtx 480. gtx 480 at architecture level is perfect, performs brilliantly on any title. just isn't released on the right process technology node. gtx580 didn't fix anything in terms of architecture, it simply added an additional library of gates so that non-critical path will not use high-power gates.

however, 5870 architecture is flawed. its tessellation unit has too slow, it basically fails when any real Dx11 title is pushed through it. 6970 is actually a fix for 5870, fixing its Dx11 and tessellation performance issues. expect any meaningful performance gain in Dx9 titles is simply foolish.
