    So guys its simple what is the best video game you have ever played ?

    For me its Breath Of Fire 3 for the Play Station 1

    Half-Life 1

    It'll always be the best game I've ever played.

    Wing Commander Privateer is a close second though

    Ah...I almost hate this question because it's so broad.....

    -Demon's Souls: Old school RPG...brutually tough on the first playthrough, and I've never seen an RPG with a more fluid or balanced combat system. The multiplayer on this was addicting. Weak plot, but the gameplay was monumental and the tough nature of the game forced you to learn how to master combat.

    Demon's Souls - sitting unopened under my PS3 after (finally) getting it for Christmas. I'm desperate to play but time and a small child have conspired to prevent that so far.

    As for the best game I've ever played, well that is totally down to whether you take the year/hardware into consideration. Every year things improve so in reality older games can't compete. Nevertheless, based on how I felt at the time:

    80's - Doomdark's Revenge (Speccy) & Elite
    90's - Player Manager (Kick Off engine) (Amiga)
    00's - GTA: Vice City (Hey, I'm an 80's boy, so this had to win out) & special mention to Mount & Blade

    Shogun Total War.

    Actually any total war game was great, even if it was buggy.

    And Age of Empires really.

    GTA San Andreas.

    So much going on, so much depth, so much story, so much to achieve and overcome.

    And some very good music to boot.

    Yeah that was my thought. It's much easier to say what's your 'favourite' game since 'best' really needs tyo have one for each genre imho.

    Still fun to see responses though.

    Red Alert 2 for PC, or maybe Half Life 2.
    Consoles, it'd probably have to be Timesplitters: Future Perfect or maybe GTA: San Andreas.

    I've had different favourites in different eras:

    Oids (on Atari St)
    Doom
    Total Annihilation
    UT99
    L4D2

    Its a tough call but I'll go for Total Annihilation as the best game I've ever played.

    Mass Effect series
    Dawn Of war series
    Half-life series (1+2)
    Battlefield series
    Command and conquer Red alert 3 + Yuri's
    S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series
    Future Cop (oldie)
    Dark Omen (oldie)

    Currently playing The Witcher... so far could be a contender for my altime top games.

    Call me Crazy but it's Probably Test Drive Unlimited :)

    Other Brilliant games include KOTOR, X3 Reunion, Oblivion, Crysis and Definitely The Witcher

    Bayonetta.

    No other action game i've played has a deeper or more rewarding combat system. The closest i can think of is Nero from DMC4, however the Witch Time and Counter mechanics make this much more fun to play whilst remaining challenging.

    Best game, or most enjoyable? They are very different awards imho.

    Best? - Whatever is the current good game. Mass effect 2? Civ5? RDR?

    Most fun? FF7 and 8, Carmageddon, Goldeneye64, Dune 2, etc
