Hi guys, Long time reader, first time writer! I need some advice in looking for a PCI-32 SATA controller that meets the following criteria: 1. Will happily support 2Tb drives (Specifically Samsung F4s) 2. 2 or 4 port 3. Looking to spend around £50 4. FreeNAS will detect the card ok. 5. Must fit in a standard 32-bit PCI slot, the mobo does not support PCI-Express Any suggestions? Cheers guys, Kai.
Something like this? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4-Port-SATA-P...Components_InterfaceCards&hash=item45f784d38c It's based on the VIA VT6421a chipset, so it supported in Freenas, apparently. http://freenas.org/freenas_users_hardware
Thanks for the reply! I already have one of those cards, it meets all my criteria except it doesn't support 2Tb drives. Cheers, Kai.
I am not sure if this is suitable but it is cheap! http://linitx.com/viewproduct.php?prodid=11624 Alternatively, would this work? http://www.scan.co.uk/products/lyco...3internal-4ports-lp-pci-32bit-host-(non-raid) Also, would one of these work? http://www.scan.co.uk/products/lycom-st-158-sata-ii-3gbps-1-to-5ports-h-w-raid-host-adapter
I have 3 of those in my home-built Ubuntu server. They only provide SATA 1.5G. To support 2TB drives, you need to flash the firmware to version 5.5.0.0 from here.
Thanks for this was just going to ask if the card I have is supported (Adaptec 26105A) 6 port card, can this handle 2TB h/d ? Sorry did'nt mean to hijack your thread
