Hey guys; it Sir Keiser here

    About me

Before I start can I just say I’m only 14 so forgive me if my stuff is not up to your standards.
And I don’t have too many tools at home so I luckily got the opportunity to use the school technology workplace as my new workplace which includes: Laser cutting, Vinyl cutting, wood cutting and the rest

Basically everything you would expect to find in a high school in London; yes that’s right, I’m located in the U.K.; not America :p

    Inspiration

Right, so I have been a pretty satisfied owner of my old Prescott (which runs H.O.T. btw) till recently I realised just how hot it got while gaming or stressing the CPU. Specially the graphics card, although it’s just ATi Radeon HD 4650; it’s still my baby!

My computer is pretty old and was store bought and not self assembled :O and so it only had stock cooling. The only case fan that could fit in was an 80mm fan -.-
Something HAD to be done. First thought was to mod my side panel to fit more fans, so I got out my pen and paper. Results? Not so good, I wasn’t happy with the way it looked on paper so I didn’t go through with it. Later on I came across a site called bit tech; I was amazed at these mods and was determined to make one of my own
It stated of on paper till I started moving towards Google Sketchup, awesome program btw :thumb:

I was pretty bad and I ended up getting carried away, working into the night and ended with about 14 ideas all on Sketchup, some were too bad to consider and got deleted which left me with about 7 and later narrowed down to just 3.

First thought? Make all three, then I realised I had to start with one and choose: “The Black Keiser; King of the Fans”

    Quite catchy right?

I spent a lot of time re modeling my plans for the case, making it as accurate as I could.

    Ready for some Sketchups? :D

    The bare structure:

    Material Choice

I choose to go with plexi(glass) aka acrylic
I have read A LOT of project logs and it seems to be a modder’s favorite.

Most scratch builds either include aluminum frames or pre bought cases. I wanted to be different and I couldn’t cut, weld, etc metal.

    So ... I decided to use … WOOD:lol:

    Materials to be used:

    • 3mm Plexi (Black)
    • Plywood (Painted Black)
    • Pine (and yes, you guessed it; painted black)

Right so before I start …

I would like to start of with saying thanks to my awesome technology teacher for allowing me to use all the equipment and sorry for all the headaches I have caused you :p YOU ROCK! 

Next I would like to give credit to all the people who inspired me with the designing process of this mod.

    Number one:

Mr. Dean MF at bit tech with his awesome case; “ATX Cube Case”
This was one of my first cube cases and one of the main reasons I was tempted to make my own case

    Project log: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=136643

    Number 2:

Mr. pistol_pete also at bit tech with his case; “The A3 Media PC”
This was also a true inspiration because I loved the idea of a cube and his project log made it sound like a lot of fun

    Project log: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=153458

And to all the other project logs at bit tech; you guys rock, MOD ON BROS

Okay, anyways, onto the real deal.

Here are some of the first presentable looking renders:

Sorry for such bad picture quality so far! We are not allowed a camera on school premises because it may get stolen..blahblahblahh:)

Matter of fact, we are not even allowed phones hahaa!

Anyways, after that I have also glued the structure instead of screws to give it a very factory like and classy look:rock:

    Here's a quick mock up:

    then glued!

Nice one dude off to a good start. I wish I had all that gear when I was in school, we had a lathe and a large hammer and that was about it. Thinking about it, I wish I had all that gear now...lol

ahaaa! Cheers Jeff! lol! yeah, I do feel really privileged to be in a school and community where I have access to stuff like this as well as teachers willing to offer their time to help me and supervise me!
Maybe next time, I can use more of the gear then just the laser cutter, drill press etcc... lol

Still getting to know my tools!:thumb:

hahaaa, and you shall ask and receive! Thanks!

    UPDATE

Right, soooooo sorry guys for no updates for such a long while! It's been really difficult to access a computer and internet because there is some remodeling being done at home!

And my grandad recently died, so I wasn't really able to update you. But I bring bad news...

I LOST ALL MY PICTURES FROM DURING THE MOD! :(

There was a 30 second power cut at school and most of my data has been erased! The network manager says he can recover it from a backup but it could take 3 to 4 weeks!

So the good news is I have made HUGE progress :)

    So far I have:

    - Primed the case
    - Painted it black
    - Cut and drilled the motherboard tray
    - Primed the tray
    - Painted the tray
    - Ordered and RECEIVED all my hardware :D
    - Cut most plastic
    - Added case feet
    - Added a few LED strips (not wired yet tho!)
    - Attached my motherboard, CPU, Heatsink, Ram, GPU, HDD, DVD Drive and all fans!
    - Taken it home (which means better pictures from now on :D)

    Left to do:

    - Cable Management
    - Finish wiring LEDs and some fans
    - Cut the rest of the plastic
    - Add some more case lighting
    - And a few more surprises!

Remember to drop by and comment :)

    That's it for now!

    - Keiser. x
