I love it when you get random stuff like this happen. Shame it's so hard to take a decent picture of but you get the point : Anyone else happen to notice the freaky colour where they are?
It's risen high enough to be white-ish again now. Boring reason for yellow/orange moons is all the fog & stuff on the horizon, that's why it turns whiter the higher it gets. Boring fact #2: Tonight's Full Moon is the "Quickening Moon"...
The Quickening Moon? I didn't know they had names. Is that kind of like each chinese new year has a name? And yeah it's risen high enough to become brigh white now and I also realised that my camera may have helped to make it that orange colour but if I hadn't spent so much time trying to find some batteries which were charged I could have gotten it even oranger .
i was driving the other day on the common near me and driving towards the malvern hills (big hills in malvern that be quite large) and the sun was very close to the top of the hills (obviously it just looked like that!) and there was lots of mist on top of the hills. it was very beutiful because you could look at the sun and see its outline (i actually thought it was the moon it was so dull). but it also sillhouetted the branches on the trees and made the whole place look amazing. We really do have some great views where i live.
The moon is never that earie shade of orange in edin. Its usually poor silvery white. Lovely pic though.
You clearly don't have enough pollution up there then. Try visiting Manchester, London or Reading. The 3 most polluted places in Britain!
Seriously the moon was that shade of orange. I has to be low in sky. Of course it could always be my polluted hertfordshire countryside bound town...
Sweet. Right this minute the moon is below the telegraph pole in the original picture and I can see it really is that orange. Looks v. v. cool in real life. I'm gunna see if my dad can take a few pics (he be proffesional photogapher ).
Hehe, I've seen the moon that color before. Couldn't take my eyes off it for some good amount time lol
Well I can't find the picture anymore but my dad took it with a big long lense during the 2001 Jan 9 total lunar eclipse. The picture looked very similar to this one in fact: So that's how to get a blood red moon. Next time: Blue!
Unfortunately some of the translucency was lost during uploading... Why the hell does DigitalPose recompress images? *Pouts* *n
