My first proper build is my current build. I spent ages installing loads of stuff whilst staring at my blue CCFLs and flashy LEDs ^_^
Stared in amazement at how quickly Windows 7 installed when I ran the installer through PXE boot from the server (5 minutes in total to reach the Welcome screen after clicking install). Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
I was tired when I wrote the title ! When I completed my first computer ( AMD Sempron, oh the power ) with my dad ( I'm only 12 ) and his friend who had built many computers for himself my Dad's friend got a phone call thinking that was the person we were staying with ( My Dad's got lot's of friends in London ) , we started shouting. It was his wife.
Meh, I built my first when I was 8 I pressed the power button and almost sh*t myself when nothing happened. Turns out I had a blown PSU! After my RMA'd PSU came, I OC'ed 'till BSOD
lol fingers.. that game was one reason for me going into 2k of debt in the early 90's- built a 486dx 66.. at least I wasn't kicking myself and trying to sell a 386 like a lot of other guys I had a proaudio spectrum 16 bit soundcard too.. was back when soundblaster was the crap it still is today and was pimping 8 bit cards that were total garbage.. you had to set irq/dma too, it wasn't plug and play like today eventually got into video capture too- had a orchid 320x240 capture card which got obsoleted in like 4 months.. was good enough to make little morph movies though- that was the thing in dos.. could morph someones face into a tiger or whatever we were doing that before it became popular on tv.. same with sound recording in 16 bit 44khz- everyone was still using dat tape at the time =] but bad thing is you'd fill a 200 meg harddisk with like 2 minutes of sound and had to find room to edit all that those were the days.. nowdays we have huang squatting up and down- if it wasn't for amd the gpu's bought would still be around 8800gt glad they supposedly don't see eye to eye anymore and stopped price fixing.. you could see prices skyrocket after the 6 series- then nvidia came out with the 8800gtx that blew anything out the water and milked it forever glad amd is finally on the other side of the wheel
I don't really remember too much about it now. I remember playing Thief shortly after, because it came free with my graphics card. After that I probably just played a lot of Counter Strike 1.6
i was relieved that everything worked (even though it was my 1st pc i built i've done numerous upgrades before, but i was worried about any parts being DOA), then i was amazed at how everything was so much faster. (upgrading from amd 4400+ & winXP to amd 955 & win7).
After I built mine? Gamed for a little while. Then a day or so later I wondered what parts I could upgrade. Bug had bitten.
Not really you leave the machine on all night ( nothing old there ), Just tie up the only phone line as well. Can still remember telling my folks " Oh BT must have a problem, that's why the phone does not work"
Went to sleep. It was gone midnight Next day thought well i've got it now what am I gonna do? I still sort of think that. :S
My first build ? I've slept since then, that was some 14 years ago ! I seem to remember Doom 2 was the in game back then.
Spent the next 8 hours troubleshooting my vista installation, and why it wouldn't install. Ended up being that I had 2 graphics cards, and 6Gb to much ram installed. Once it was done, worked on getting steam downloaded, and then some CS:S
after i got my 1st build, i was playing games like crazy i purchased like 250-300 games after my 1st build amazing feeling playing new games on this pc
Just before I built my pc I sat on the laptop writing to this forum about how I was supposed to connect the connectors for the case audio. Then I can't remember. I was pretty chuffed ofc.
