CustomPC uses indepth ( not to mention expensive ) equipment in they're Labs test similar to that article. I wouldn't trust any other source for a PSU review.
That's very encouraging /sarcasm, especially seeing as most of this info comes for bit tech/custom pc anyway and everything else is personal experience...
might as well add the XFX 850W Black Edition Modular PSU to this list. Essentially a Seasonic M12D with even more impressive test results...
Lol, we all put up with bindi cos we love him really, although he is by far the most erratic moderator Q.Q And ty for the comment
Hi there , I already replaced the noisy ball bearing fan with a GELID sleeve bearing fan ( lubricated by myself with a creamy Zirconium grease ) , now this Silencer 910W is finally total silent ,of course I swap upside down the direction of the airflow inside the PSU to allow only fresh air to enter into the PSU , the case is also a Silverstone RAVEN RV02 modded upside down , to allow vertical airflow please see the pictures I have found another intresting advantage of the PC Power & Cooling 80mm layout , the 80mm fan allow partial airflow below ( not only above ) the PCB inside the PSU , the 120mm layout fan cannot send airflow above the PCB of the PSU , therefore the air above the PCB of the PSU become hotter
You could try directing a cooling fan onto it to keep the heat down... at the area where heat is trapped, maybe an antec spot cool
Hi there , my Blue gelid 80mm Fan send airflow above and below the PCB inside of the PSU therefore I have not problem , the people with problem with the heat trap above the PCB of the PSU are the people with a 120mm fan inside the PSU .
While not a super PSU, when on one of scans spechials it's great deal Scan do it fo £50 or £60 on a today only NorthQ Black Magic Flex 850W << 8.5/10 from jonnguru The other one is the "700W FSP700-80GLN" which goes for £30 on a today only which is the OEM version of the "FSP FX700-GLN" Shorter fixed cables, but alot PSU for the money, SLi ready 2x6pin Both PSU's are ok in their own right, but they drop to 1/2 price about once a fortnight.
i've been looking at getting the corsair tx650w but its not on this list. anyone know if its any good?
I'm looking at either: Be Quiet 650W Dark Power Pro - £101 Antec TruePower New 650W Modular - £89 Corsair TX 650W - £73 With almost a £30 difference would the Corsair be a better choice?
I'm quite happy with my Be Quiet! Straight Power 500W. £80 it cost me when I bought it late 2007. Wish it was modular though..
I'd recommend the Silverstone ST75F. It is a 750Watt Modular power supply. Works great and every single cable is modular and uses standard connectors on the PSU end except the SATA power connector. I love mine.
