TOOL - Ænima Django Reinhardt & Stephan Crapelli - The Ultimate Collection Carcass - Heartworks The Haunted - Made Me Do It Thelonius Monk - Best Of That's all I can think of just now. All are chosen for their superb dynamics and 'interesting bits' (Imagine (-)ive Ions in 5.1....) *n
The Dillinger Escape Plan - Irony is a Dead Scene: Yeah in fact I think most Patton based stuff is so erratic it easily qualifies. Bright Eyes - Lifted: Because it's beautiful... So much sound going on. Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come: It's my favourite album, so I had to pick it... :] GlassJAw - Worship and Tribute: Gah... It already sounds so damn polished I can't imagine it tenfold (...or whatever DVD-Audio is in comparison). Unkle - Psyence Fiction Cause they deserve it. Lots going on here too. Limiting myself to five for personal...fun...stuff.
Good Choices After I posted, I stuck the first Mr Bungle album on...but I actually think that it wouldn't work well in a full aural spectrum :/. DEP though *n
the entire NIN back catalouge..... I've got the and all that could have been DVD and that's AMAZING!!!! But tool would also be cool.... and Fear Factory!! that would rock.. and prolly Requim for a dream but that may just scare the bejesus out of me....
Mike Olfield and his Tubular Bells would do DVD-A some justice. Also; Massive Attack, Prodigy, maybe Royksopp.
All Godspeed You Black Emperor! albums would be awesome dvd-a's. These guys totally rock the instrumental so good. If you're going to download something (or buy something) find "BBF3" or "Dead Flag Blues." Good stuff
I was thinking Battle Of Los Angeles when I posted first, good call. That album is wonderfully produced.
DVD-A is co,prised of an album mixed at higher sampling rates (192KHz/24bit i think) and utilising a full 5.1 system. Methinks it's also THX gubbins. *n
Hmm, probably quite expensive. A dvd movie is 20 quid, i dont fancy the idea of a music album for 20 quid, and the hardware on top of that. I think ill stick to the normal cd's. All this new fangled technology is confusliling me Alex
My dad bought the Fleetwood Mac one the other day (He's upgrading to 5.1 within the month) so I scurried it away to my room for a listen...sounds superb *n
Here in Canda it's $20 for a CD, and $20 - $30 for a DVD, I think I'd rather have it on DVD-A, except it's about as popular here as warm freaking weather. I'd ahve ot say NIN, all of it. And Clint Mansell. And Son of Rust. Those would be my top choices, although I'd liek to ahve pretty much all my music on DVD-A
