Ok so I have a dvd player that gives out dolby digital 5.1 through a coaxial port. And i recently bought a very cheap 5.1 amplifyer and speakers. The problem is that it only accept anoulouge sygnals. It only accpets the 6 sperate chanals, but the dvd player puts it out in digital throug one plug. Does anybody know the cheapest and or eaisest way to make it so i can use this amplifier from my dvd player, like does anybody know of any circuits to decode the sygnal. Or should I just screwit and save up to by a 5.1 system wiht built in decoder?

Building your own decoder is something you do NOT want to do.

    A quick search yields:

    http://www.neoseeker.com/Hardware/Products/JazzHipster_DE005/

    Which is around $150.

You're definitely better off buying a receiver with a built in decoder or to buy a new dvd player with a decoder. The former is the better option of the two.
