Can anyone recommend a cheap GFX card that can handle full 1080p playback on its own via DXVA? My mother has a PC that is pretty old now (it is PCI-E though, so no issues there) and it hasn't quite got enough guts to playback HD content, it tends to skip frames about every 2-3 seconds. As all she does is play facebook games and web surf so the card really doesn't need to be anything special, but she has just got a BR drive and wants to watch a couple of films. I have been looking at a GT 520 or a HD 6450, but as I have never kept track of the lower ends of the gfx card market, I'm not sure if these cards will be suitable for completely taking over the decode task.
I just bought a GT430 to drive a second screen, and it seems to cope with very high bitrate 1080P easily. Forget the exact price now, but around £30.
