I am looking to buy a image uploader. I have one at the moment but it does not do thumbnails.

I am looking for one so when people upload pictures it gives them the thumbnail link so they can

post thumbnails on a forum and not the whole picture,

Anyone know of any? i prefer free but if not i can buy.

    thanks,

Forgive my ignorance, but wouldn't it just be easier for them to upload their images to say, imageshack.us , which will then generate the thumbnail links for each picture > copy & paste into a forum? That's what I do with some pictures if I don't need to save them in my Photobucket account ( you can generate thumbnail links to full size images in PB too, just requires the insertion of '_th' into the [ IMG ] tag of the bbcode, which is placed between [ URL ] tags, like so:

yes it would be easier.. But we would like to have control and moderate the pictures first before they are uploaded to the forum

Ah, I see. I don't suppose there is an option to resize the uploaded pictures automatically, like there is on this forum?

IIRC, Wordpress includes such a feature that you can butcher to fit your needs.

Its main purpose was actually to resize uploaded photos automatically to fit in the blog post then insert the 'reduced size' image as a clickable link to the full sized image.

I'm sure a little php sorcery should allow you to modify the script to simply pass the url of the thumbnail to your page.

depending what language your server uses... and your abilities...
there are many free image uploader scripts...
    or complete gallery scripts..
try coppermine for php for instance...

in PHP you can easily create a file uploader, limit it to images and restrict file sizes... and create another script to create and display thumbnails..
    http://www.plus2net.com/php_tutorial/php_thumbnail.php
(I not tried this script by the way was just a quickie google search)
