Battlefield 3 Single player campaign extremely immersive and visually stunning in stereo 3d. Switching back to 2d and it looks flat and cartoony by comparison. I'd previously tried multiplayer in Stereo 3d but found it flickery for some reason. Tried it again today and found it a much better experience. The stereo depth needs to be set so it's not too great or eye stress will result. 35% approx seems to work best.

Another surprise is Left 4 Dead 2. It's not fully 3d certified but it turns out to be one of the best experiences with the glasses. I find it hard to stop playing it when wearing the glasses.

Also have a number of bluray movies in stereo and overall very impressed.

I'm using the V2 Nvidia glasses. Had several weeks intermittent use from them before they finally needed charging.

    Using with LG W2363D

Always interesting to hear others people's experiences with 3D. I have a 3D TV and don't suffer from any of the downsides other people mention and always finds it genuinely add's to the experience and have wanted to transfer it over into PC gaming too.

The only thing's holding me back are the cost, the 3D monitors seem almost 2-3 times the price of similar res TN panels plus the cost of the glasses on top.

Glad you're enjoying it though, would love the opportunity to try it out myself in BF3 I can imagine it being fantastic in 3D. If the price ever comes down significantly or if 120Hz IPS panels hit the market I'll bite.

How do you find the crosstalk (if any) on the 120hz Monitors?

I spread the cost because I bought the LG 2363D last year at £170, I was intending to buy the 3d glasses a few weeks later but that turned into months. I only got around to buying the 3d glasses a few weeks ago at £114.

    http://www.dabs.com/products/nvidia...3d-lightboost--7SXS.html?q=3d vision 2&src=16

It's a shame LG stopped selling the 2363D and replaced it with an inferior 60hz monitor and fake 3d setup that halves the vertical screen res.

I think it's easier to buy the monitor first then save for the glasses at a later date.

I would love to upgrade to 3d TV sometime in the future. Many years ago I used the Elsa Revelator 3d glasses and also never experienced the headaches and everything else people seem to complain about. It takes a little while for the brain to adjust to the 3d glasses setup, the more you use it the more you get used to it. I suspect some people have the stereo depth too deep which would certainly give them some degree of eye/brain strain.

Noticed small amount of crosstalk on BF3 against the bright sky but overall it's not generally an issue. Ghosting I would say is much lower than it used to be with the Elsa Revelators.

Some of the 3d titles I have...

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/TT3D-Closer...E59S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328106587&sr=8-1

Well executed 3d in this vid.

Avatar looks stunning in 3d just as it did on the big screen. The scene where the alien butterflies gather around Jake looks amazing because the stuff is coming out of the screen.

Must be said though that the best use of 3d I've seen so far on my monitor is some HD 3d porn. Amazing to see floating some distance in front of the monitor.

For me the tech would be near perfect if it didn't incur a brightness drop. It's not an issue with movies but games need to be bright. I'd be interested to see how well the new Lightboost monitors work...

    I do have the Nvidia 3DTV play software and have tried running a few games on it but my issues are;

    - Running in 1080p limit's you to 24Hz which is fine for movies but it's unplayable for anything game wise forcing you to run at 720p @ 60hz which isn't bad but I tend to sit pretty close to my TV and I do find I miss it.

    - Not having a desk and having to use my coffee table for my keyboard and mouse isn't very comfortable and gives me a bad back after 5 minutes so I'm limited to playing games with an Xbox 360 controller such as batman, GTA IV etc.

Might give it another go though my plan was to move the PC through to my living room and play through the new batman in 3D from the comfort of my sofa but I'm too obsessed with Skyrim/BF3 at the moment :D

Tried Fallout 3 in 3d today. It's rated Excellent and it does look very good.

It's amazing how much more immersive games are with the glasses. Really getting into it again. Was quite a few years since I left the Elsa's and CRT behind.

I fancy picking up a set of the mk2 glasses as they look to be better :)

I think Stereo 3D is a bit much for multiplayer, not only that but with Ultra settings in BF3 performance on 580GTX SLi isn't great, even at 1080.

That said, as in the OP; single player is awesome, adds literally a whole new depth to games, and you find yourself replaying old titles like F.E.A.R 2. Immense immersion if it's setup right. Anyone who classes it as a fad IMO is just going with what the sheep say, you'd have to be down right thick to have that take on it, seeing as (especially at where the industry is at now) anything that adds more immersion to games is welcome.

Also you find people who moan about the battery life will probably be leaving the glasses on charge when not in use and burn them out. I've not charged mine in literally months and they've still not run out yet.

I've had the Mk2 glasses for a month and didn't charge then when I bought them. They only lost charge a few days ago on BF3. Charged pretty fast. 60 hours on a charge is pretty amazing.

Agree... I've been shocked to see how negative people are here at bit tech especially. Bit tech forum members are generally very very hostile towards 3d and make all kinds of claims (that it causes headaches, infertility, cancer, psychotic episodes).

I've just tried Far Cry 2 because it was rated Excellent. It looks good but it does seem very dark. It's funny how some games seem to drop brightness more than others. I have pushed up the gamma in the game. It adds a whole new dimension playing in 3d.

Agree what u say about the performance hit as well. BF3 can't run ultra on my SLI 560Ti, and even with 580 SLI you wouldn't want to incur a performance drop. Do you have MSI Afterburner on screen server running to show you the FPS in game?

I aim for at least 60fps in 2d on BF3. Running on HIGH I get 60 to 110 fps.

No on screen counter, I find it distracting ;)

With stereo enabled in ultra it gets close, if not below 30fps in places. Just a big no no! But regardless of performance, the eye candy and depth kind of draws you away from the pace and you can find yourself being distracted by the scene and getting shot from every direction! Some MP games are better than others, L4D 2 is a definite MP game to try it out with.

There definitely is a lot of hate, not sure if it's partly to do with the movie industry milking the living guts out of it, or people not being able to justify the cost of the setup...I must admit I did take the pee out of my mate when he bought into it, but after I used it I never went back.

I think it's people hating change. Most gamers think a gaming machine is a graphics card, sound card, speakers and a mouse. They see anything else as a gimmick. I've had people tell me that body vibration is a gimmick or that it's distracting. I explain to them that in the real world we have touch feedback and without it we would be totally disconnected from the world.

There is also an element of monkey see, monkey do. Someone who gets to be high up the monkey chain on a forum and is worshipped by the younger chimps will voice his hatred of something and then all the other chimps will join in and attack. That's pretty much how it's been whenever Bit tech have done a 3d feature here.

I am wondering how different it would be on a japanese forum (if I could speak japanese) since they seem to embrace new tech more readily.

    Back to the games...

Why is it that some games just look so much better than others in 3d?

Why does L4D2 look so good? Maybe it's because the engine is so old it runs at a very high FPS or perhaps the lower graphics detail lends itself well to the 3d?

I think it's more because the infected run at you, their blood spurts all over the screen and it looks f*cking (excuse my French) epic! ;) Skyrim is another one to try - walking through some of the caves in twice the time because you're jumping at everything lol.

Skyrim looks pretty awful in 2d, perhaps it would look nicer in 3d.

I've also tried FSX in 3d. ORBX Tamworth airport looks stunning. Sitting on the runway looks real. Flying with the c130 aircraft addon is just amazing.

The FLIGHT beta totally fails though. It just doesn't work.

A piece of news you may already know... Alan Wake is coming to the PC shortly and it's 3d certified!

Alan Wake crapped me up on Xbox!

Use the ENB series with Skyrim, makes the game look 10x better. :)
