I posted this as a bit of a rant on another forum but then figured it'd be far more constructive to just ask for some help. You guys were good help with the decision to upgrade to 8gb of RAM so hopefully you can help me out again on the topic of RAM !

So I just added my new 8GB of 1600MHz 1.5V G.skill Ripjaws RAM to my system.

    Model no. is: F3-12800CL9-4GBRL

    Steps I took:

    - Install it
    - Configure speed settings to AUTO and enable XMP
    - AUTO voltage in UEFI BIOS
    - Run MSI's built in memory test (which it passed)
    - Save settings and boot up windows

So then the problems occur! Multiple BSODs, Windows Explorer stops working to a BSOD, some crap about page file dump/crash.

Launch Windows repair and nothing shows up as dodgy.

    Configure the RAM settings again:

    - XMP disabled
    - Speed to DDR3 1333MHz
    - Voltage to 1.645V
    - Save and boot

What do you know?! Works fine! I'm using it right now!

So why do MSI's boards only like RAM at lower speeds and higher voltages than they're actually rated for? I've had tons of similar problems in the past! I think the only kit I've had to boot at 1600MHz was my Corsair Dominator and then it was CL11 (IIRC).

    Tested RAM:

    - 4GB 1333MHz @ 1.5V Corsair XMS3 - Only worked at 1333MHz @ 1.645V
    - 6GB (only used 4GB) 1600MHz @ 1.65V Corsair XMS3 - Only worked at 1333MHz @ 1.645V
    - 4GB 1600MHz @ 1.65V Patriot Signature - Only worked at 1333MHz @ 1.645V

Are you overclocked at all? I've got the same board as you and have 16 GB of Crucial Ballistix Sport running at 1600 Mhz at ~1.5 v without any problems.

XMP enabled, Dram Voltage set to 1.54v. timings set to auto

Nope, using the Intel stock cooler atm so no OC.

That's odd. Perhaps I should manually set the voltage to just above 1.5V and enable XMP?

TBH, I'm not interested in the speed, but the lower voltage would be nice.

I believe P67 (i.e. skt 1155) is designed to work with 1.5v memory so perhaps try dropping the DRAM to that? Mine (in sig) played funny bugars with higher voltage ram.

Yep. 1.5v is where you want to be for Sandy Bridge.

I've run my p67a-gd65 with ram at both 1.65 and 1.5v and never had an issue with it. I've run:
    OCZ 4gb 1333 Cas9 1.5v
    OCZ 4gb 1600 Cas 8 1.65v
    Corsair Vengeance 1600 Cas 9 1.5v
However, I did have an issue with the OCZ XMP setting the wrong values, so I would suggest checking the advance timings menu to make sure they are correct.
