I'd be looking at getting the CM Storm Rapid and then going with a combo of wood and aluminium keycaps. Problem is, both of them are hard to come by, so does anyone have any sourcing ideas, or other suggestions? :)

Wooden keycaps? Don't really exist, and certainly not at a reasonable price.
Alu keycaps, again, don't really exist as a full set, closest you can come to are the zinc ones longweight is getting.

    And what colour LEDs Yorkie?

Yeah, the problem with those Zinc ones is that they don't fit the switches very well, and I wouldn't have the time or patience to work on each keycap to get it to fit.

And I remember earlier in the thread- something about a guy that may be making wooden keyboards and such.
Going to have a trawl. :)

There is a seller named kix-on-fire that does full wood MX based keyboards including the keycaps, for the low price of $1000... has them up on ebay.

A wooden filco TKL case is about £180, aluminium caps are around £10 each.

Probably... I imagine they need a lot more care, afterall wood expands and contracts a lot. Would certainly need a lot more care on environment to make sure it dosen't end up unusable. I would also be nervous about how thin the keycaps are, certain wood is not that durable when it is very thin. I expect replacement keycaps would be a real pain if they split or something. On the other hand if they are very thick, they will be too heavy and make the board feel dead.
Probably better off with simulated woodgrain... KBC had some neat concept all over print dyesubs, could be a better and much less expensive route with a similar look.

Chances are I'll just have WASD make some keycaps for me, time to start thinking about what I want. :)

Saw one of those on avforums earlier, if they did a TKL model it probably would have been my first mechanical keyboard, you won't be disappointed, I wasn't by my TKL, and the Ducky 9 series are of a higher build quality etc.

I would like a full size vice the TKL, I did look around for a race and ebay wasn't any help. I figure if there is one place I could possibly find it would be on ebay.

I saw on geekhack they just did a group buy for the race, I don't wanna go for the group buy thing though.

More and more the mk-85 looks better and better. I am going go look for a better price.

I'd take a look at the Ducky Shine, and the Race is available from a couple of sellers on geekhack, but it's a small form factor board, same layout (pretty much) as the Noppoo Choc Mini.

I still can't make up my mind which I prefer, I think the white version, the 2 tone works very well in my opinion.
