    Hey all,

Wondered if anyone would be able to shed some light on why I am
suddenly unable to visit some sites or play some games. Probably
other things too that I haven't found yet.

Any how - I'm with Virgin Media (yes, silly me, but so far no problems
    except in CS1.6).
I am unable to connect to any Source based games, so L4D, L4D2, HL2,
CSS, DOD:Source etc - They all sit on "Parsing game info..."
However in console, it says "connected" to the IP i'm trying to get to.

I am unable to get onto anything BF3 (Origin will log in), either
through origin or from the site, as it just won't load the site
    ( http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/ ) .
The same with various other sites, ESL.eu, hltv.org, google seems to
be very slow overall. I know the sites I try are definitely up and
working. I can get to them on my phone. But not from my mac which
is on the same connection as my PC.
I'm not sure what could have changed for all of them to suddenly
stop working? I've not changed anything on my PC since I turned it
off yesterday and they all worked then. Turn it on today and they appear "down".

    Any help peeps?
    thanks

edit: I don't know if it means anything. I tried traceroute from the virgin modem itself.
It completes to google.com, fails to esl.eu, but completes to battlelog.battlefield.com.
to battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3 it doesn't know the host.

Also - when trying to get to sites - it just sits on waiting. No error comes up, just keeps
trying to get the website up. From firefox, safari, IE, Chrome.

Have you only just started experiencing them?

I had a VM van parked outside my flat about two days ago. They were inside my block (of 4
flats), not sure what they were doing but they sure as hell made sure to let the front door slam
    as much as possible.
Have you had a recent visit?

No recent visits as far as I know, but we've been having slowdowns for the past three or four days.

I have also had slowdowns the last couple of days, I wonder if it could be due to the double/triple speed virgin are giving out as my area is scheduled for around now...

Do they push firmware updates over network, they could have pushed a new one (only if you don't own your modem, have to use provided ones)? For games it could be port forward issue. Can you set DNS server in the modem router? If so, you might try opendns or googledns instead and see if that helps at all.

Using virgin media here and I've had trouble accessing a few websites over the past 2-3 days. For some, it will let me access the homepage but when I try to navigate the site it will just be loading forever. I can't even properly access the virgin media website; only their homepage will load for me.

I'm not sure about pushing firmware updates. Most probably though.
I also don't know if there is a way to check if they have!
I've forwarded the ports that are recommended for the games but no
    luck so far. :(

As for DNS, I can't find any option to change it in the "Super"Hub
advanced settings. I can see what it is, but not change anything
    about it. :(
Sucks as i've got time off, so was hoping for a bit of BF3!!!

They are having some problems with routing, I think it must be affecting everyone (including me). The website says it should be fixed by 11PM Sunday, (earlier it said it would be sorted buy 7pm Saturday so how knows when its going to be sorted!)

...do you guys not even check VM's own status page?

They've been experiencing network errors since yesterday, with no real ETA on a fix. You can use a proxy to bypass though, and everything will work.
