This doesn't mention anything here about phone or broadband but you'd hope the same idea applied in your case
Didn't Rediffusion provide one channel per pair of wires in one big cable? So you had to change channel with that box that would select one pair of the wires to get that channel? My mate talked about them a good few years ago.
If your ISP gives you grief, you just say the magic words: "Please put me through to Disconnections". You'll be amazed how accommodating they suddenly become.
This is true. I told Virgin that I wanted to cancel my TV service (but keeping broadband) because Sky had an offer that was too good to miss. Virgin bent over backwards to keep me and managed to beat Sky's offer.
