What are you playing from (MP3, FLAC, WAV)? The latency from the microserver will be more of a problem than any DAC. What model amp & speakers will you be using?
In that case save yourself a few quid & get a USB soundcard & an optical to RCA adapter. No point spending £300 on a DAC if you're not running really high-end kit
Teac UD-H01 VS HRT Music Streamer II Which would be better for Using mainly as a USB DAC? My amp has a headphone jack so not sure I really need a Headphone amp. also my AKGs are the low Ohm version (i.e. do not need any Amplification to use directly on phone or ipod.) BTW where can I buy high bitrat FLAC music downloads? or is it better to buy CDs and rip your self?
Not 100% sure what you are trying to achieve but your signature says u have a Asus Xonar D2X sound card already , i would just use the analogue out straight into the denon with a high quality 3.5mm to rca lead , placing a dac in the middle would make very little difference to the sound quality with the system you are using.
The main Benefit of the TEAC DAC is I can get in richersound and have a store to return to if there are any issues. the Streamer gets much better reviews though.
I'm using a Behringer U-Control UCA222 DAC. It's USB, costs about £24 from Amazon, and the 3.5mm jacks go directly to my Apoz Aktimate speakers (gotta love powered monitors).
Thanks guys when I get my Amp back will update thread untill then I will research all the suggested option.
Yup ended up getting this, as I found out it also uses a Burbrown Chip (just a lower end model then what I was thinking of getting) and will spend birthday money on a U2713mh instead. Now to sell my trusty U2311.... Any one know Amps? I now know to use Phono only for Vinyl players but what about Recorder-1 and -2?? they are marked in separate box from Line 1, CD and Tuner on my Amp. Any Idea why? What should I watch out for?
Recorder will generally be for tape decks. Possibly an in & out for it. EQ will be bad on it as an input & output is generally fixed post gain & pre tone
