    Hi everyone

I have a weird problem with my network and I have no idea what might be causing it. Long story short, I work on a train and I need to relay the signal from a Dir-412 with a Bell USB 3G stick to the next car.
To do this, I use the Dir-412, a 100ft cable to reach the first Dir-615 router, which is connected to another dir-615 router via WDS.

If more than one person connects to the WDS access point (and not the Dir-412 directly), the 3G connection drops constantly. It can work for 5s and then drop for 5s, before reconnecting and dropping again within a few seconds, you get the idea. In the 412's setup page, i can see the connection actually drop and reconnect.

The local network works perfectly. I can ping the 412 with several devices at the same time from the WDS access point and I do not have any packet loss.
If we do not use the WDS network, the connection does not drop on the 3G stick. I really don't get what's causing the problem ... (0_o)

N.B : There is no security on this network. The company doesn't want any because we have lots of guests and they don't want to bother. I disagree but since a train is always in movement... who cares if someone manages to connect for half a second

Here are the settings of my devices

    Dir-412
    address 192.168.0.1
    subnet 255.255.255.0
    defaut firmware
takes care of the DHCP (100 to 149)
    no firewall
    pretty much everything is disabled
    no security

    first dir-615
    address : 192.168.0.11
    subnet : 255.255.255.0
    gateway : 192.168.0.1
dns : 192.168.0.1 (note that this is the dns the 412's dhcp distributes and not the ISP's dns server)
    Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (07/04/12) std
    wan disabled
    stp enabled
    dhcp disabled
WDS AP with the other 615's mac adress added in the WDS table
    no firewall
    no security
    no virtual interface

    second dir-615
    address : 192.168.0.12
    subnet : 255.255.255.0
    gateway : 192.168.0.1
    dns : 192.168.0.1
    Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (11/21/10) std
    wan disabled
    stp enabled
    dhcp disabled
WDS AP with the other 615's mac adress added in the WDS table
    no firewall
    no security
    no virtual interface

Thank you for your help. I spent a lot of time working on this running a 100ft cable in the walls and ceiling of this train and I would love it if it worked perfectly

Run another cable between the cars? Make your own connectors and shove it in some bendy corrugated conduit so it can be compliant (if needs be) or at least a bit more rugged.

Cannon connectors would be good, and even though it's not strictly in spec for 802.3 it will work better than what you've got at the moment!

Running a cable between cars is not an option unfortunately. Also, the local network itself works perfectly. The problem is the stupid 3G stick that disconnects for an unknown reason
