@GuilleAcoustic, thanks for that link, I already actually have that XMS3 but I will see what that other stuff looks like.

@bindibadgi: 55W, going i3 ;). If you refer to post #10, you'll see the reason I intend to avoid the stock cooler! :)

Have you used one of the new Intel stock coolers? I was pretty impressed with the newer models, not nearly as bad as the LGA775 models and previous.

By newer do you mean 1156? or since the release of 1155. Because my 1156 one is not satisfactory and that was inside an acoustically insulated desktop case and i could hear it.
So let's not forget that we are discussing one for a HTPC.

I've used the LGA1155 and the LGA2011 one, both better than I expected

You can turn the noise down in the motherboard settings, for higher temps

The LGA775 stock cooler I have seems almost identical to the LGA1155 stock cooler I have.

Depending on the CPU you have, you will likely be able to turn down the speed of the fan as already said. The G550 I have in a system stays at around 30C at a fan speed less than 1000rpm. The fan is almost silent -- it's only audible in a very quiet room.

    Hi,

    I have a P8Z77-I Deluxe with a Noctua NH-L12 and it was perfect :)

"was"? what happened to it? ;)

Does that cooler interfere with RAM slots or PCI slot on that particular board?

    Thank

    I still have it :)

The cooler is perfect, it does not obstructed any of the DIMM slots providing you use low-profile RAM (so not Vengeance). Its also using a GTX670 with no problems caused!
