So iv never played a space sifi shooter after what i consider the best, Wing Commander Prophecy. Is there anything like this out now? or even close? without silly amounts of cheesyness (x3)? thanks for ideas!

If you dont care about story (this game has none, except for a tiny bit of lore), Sins of a Solar Empire. Its an RTS in space!

well its been said sadly - nothing in the genre for a long long time - i would suggest star lancer but its a DX7 game from about 13 years ago not sure if theres anything coming in the next 12 months either
Sad thing is the sci fi gaming genre has died a death, lack of intrest, lack of tv shows been the 2 main reasons. Galaxy on fire 2 was ok, Sins + endless space are the 2 best ones but niether has a story. Freelancer 2 still best story driven sci fi game ever made. Home world 2 runs its a close second niether runs brilliant under windows 7.
I'd love it if someone made a Naval Ops Warship Gunner... IN SPACE. The level of customisation in that game was unreal, you just picked a hull and went to town building a custom ship. I'd love that in a space scenario possibly as a turn based strategy or a real time strategy game. I'd even enjoy it in the style of the Battlestations Midway/Pacific games. Of course this is all IN SPACE. (I feel that must be in caps because whenever someone says IN SPACE on a trailer, its always in an epic voice)
I enjoyed the first Deadspace. Not sure if you could call that new or good really. Scared me until I was used to it anyway... so like a couple of hours
