didn't really see this coming personally, but thinking about it they were always to expensive in comparison to other retailers http://news.sky.com/story/1035613/jessops-pwc-confirms-role-as-administrator
Doubt it! They'll shunt stock across to the branches they're keeping unless they're really desperate. Shame though, they do provide good service.
And they knew that it was inevitable - our local store has won several awards and the guys knew that they couldn't compete with online prices, but it didn't stop them from trying to make the business work. I'm amazed that they have survived for this long.
They recently opened a new branch in the Hanley stoke on trent potteries shopping center, it seems to be doing well so far depsite thier high prices, Ive not seen any major discounts in price from them thats for sure
This does not come as a shock in anyway, There are cheaper places for high end camera stuff than jessops. HMV will follow it in the next few weeks. UK retail scene is just not doing well.
Really wasn't expecting the whole chain to shut - what are they doing with all the stock? Bit of a shame really, as it's one of the few cam retailers left on the high street.
Was a virtual guarentee I heard rumours they were going to fail there bank loans which means the next step is admin. They have called them in early I guess the sales have failed to boost money any significant amount. Early jan they also stopped pre orders which was a warning sign.
