    Hi,

I'am looking for a monitor upgrade for a gaming PC. Nothing too flashy, but ive seen the buzzword IPS screen splashed about recently?

Anything that you guys can recommend

    Thanks

Off the top of my head, the Dell U2212HM/U2312HM are probably a good choice for you. Also, the Dell S2240L/S2340L if you don't mind a glossy screen. I'm not sure how much they are new, but if you don't mind refurbished then you should be able to get one within your budget. Check out NRG IT (where I'm currently working). Also check out the nrg_it auctions on ebay. You can get some bargains on there (make sure to read the description though because there's often some minor defect on the auctions).

    Cheers

    Olly

    +1 on the U2312HM.

Also NRG IT are highly recommended amongst the users on this site who have bought from them, although I can't count myself among their number (yet :naughty:).

The only issue I see with the Dell U2312HM is the lack of HDMI input? How do you get around it?

Use the Displayport or DVI connectors instead?

You could try an HDMI/DVI adapter, I suppose. Not sure if it's something you'd need to take into consideration, but the audio being carried by the HDMI cable would probably be lost by using the adapter. Do you only have an HDMI output on your computer? The S2340L has an HDMI input if that helps.

probably sounds a bit stupid but would the screen still display HD even without using a HDMI cable?

Yep, you'll be fine with HD on DVI or Displayport (or VGA for that matter, but don't use VGA ;)). It's not a stupid question at all, you won't know unless you ask.

Without any problems, I currently run two monitors, one at FullHD and the other at a higher resolution, neither use HDMI and I have no problems :)

Good choice. If you've got a DVI connection on your monitor then that will do the job well for you :)

JacksonFrenchTime, what will you be plugging your monitor in to? Do you have a DVI port? If you do then a simple DVI cable is all you'll need. I don't know whether NRG IT bundle a cable with their monitors (Olly?) but if not you can pick one up for peanuts.

Olly will sort you out well! Got my U2713HM monitor from them, and many others before that. :)

Yep, they come with the usual DVI and VGA lead. :)

Yep. As Simon said, it'd come with DVI and VGA (and USB too) :)
