    Glory huh?
ok I was thinking that one of these days I will start a thread with a topic "Why do you guys fold?"

Because it cannot be the money. If anything we kill hardware and we pay higher electricity bills. And for what?
Cannot be the glory, because the last time I checked I never saw any papers where they acknowledged my name :)
Is it the science? Who cares about science anyway :D I am a scientist in the first place. why the hell do I need to fold protein for?
Is it the competition? See your points and name going up the league? Hmm...perhaps. That sounds plausible.
or the personal angle? someone close has/had a personal loss due to a medical condition. Possibly.

I just find the whole idea very intriguing to be honest.

    It always Medical
usually family - in my case Definitely family

I could just open my checkbook and donate - and get nothing in return (except maybe a deduction) unless Im a big wig and I get a few pats on the back for having a big Heart - I give anyways (anomymously)

you could always volunteer fund raise or or charity work (I do that anyways)

or you fold - do some of the work - pay $$ for hardware $$ for electricity ..and $$for repairs and upgrades and more rigs ...while having a bit fun and watching my rank ...yeah that's the ticket

anyways if you can't afford it.... don't do it
if you can get the message out then do it - everyone that folds helps
if you can do anything to help your fellow man or your future children or family do it

    -------------------------------------------
New capts to vote on issues 15th for date
    17th on new team
18th on format (we'll see about that)

MPC is out - they wanted a return to the original chimp (straight PPD) and Chimp names

Ie changing chimp names is ok for small teams try or people with few rigs
    try 12000 folders
    try 1200 active
try multiple rigs - with some remote - and expect no errors
the bigger the team the harder time to track down the problem(s) - where the error(s) are

I want format and formula this week - so your capts have to participate - read - update with ideas or tweaks or formula would be nice

as ADAK has said - we need a simple format & formula

    no more delays

AFAICT the captain's threads are supposed to only be available to captains, so our captain (not sure who that is, and not inclined to check today) needs to post info here for those of us who are going to participate.

As it currently stands: other than fold your nuts off, no, as this years there's no Team names. Though if you want to fold as CustomBitChimps for the duration there's nothing stopping you.

The [not quite due to the no team names] Chimps Challenge runs from April 13th 2013 1800 UTC [1200 PDT, 1900 BST] and runs til April 23rd 2013 1800 UTC

Scoring is still being finalised but the general thinking behind it is whichever team can up their PPD by the greatest %age will win, bigger teams will obviously have to find more new folders to increase there %age than a smaller team would.

Once it's all been finalised i'll post how it'll all work on here.

Could one of you PM the CustomBitChimps key, that way i have it...

Scoring is nearly finalised, it's not perfect but hopefully it should put all 9 teams on an equal footing...

    The general gist -

Each team has a multiplier based on the PPD of the past 2 chimp challenges, EVGA's being 1 as they are/were the top producer, Ours in the region of 3 as out PPD was ~1/3 that of EVGAs.

PPD x Multi = Race Points, most race points wins.
