Hi guys I would like to paint in black the interior of my HAF 932 case and my Kingston Hyper-X ram cooler (I have the blue one). I'm new to painting and all tutorial I have found go to a lot of work for a mirror like finish. I'm looking for something simpler and a mat finish. Can anyone tell me if there is any kind of paint that i can use without having to send and/or using etching primer on my parts? Thanks
You only need etch for bare Alu,normally you can key and paint on top in pre painted parts. Anodizing needs to be removed with Caustic soda before painting, the paint will fall off otherwise.
For reference this are the parts i want to paint black. http://i.haymarket.net.au/DynamicImages/Product/HAFinternal.jpg http://www.legitreviews.com/images/reviews/1020/hyperx_fan_bundle.jpg Are they anodized? Sorry but I'm really a new when it come to painting metals. Thx
99% sure the case is not, also 99% sure the ram cooler is. If you want a decent finish of any kind you are going to need to key the surface, by sanding it smooth then using a decent primer one that's self levelling.
for steel interior all you need is a decent quality primer and matt {colour} plasticote paint, you will want to strip the case down and go over the metal with some thinners to get rid of any grease, i would leave the blue ally parts {depending on your colour scheme} it would look pretty good with matt black.
Thank you guys for your time. I guess for the case any car/bicycle paint should do, right ? For the ram cooler I just ordered a carbon fiber to wrap it up if i like it i may do the same with the case interior. But I have one last question, is the carbon fiber surface conductive? Thanks
if you mean vynle carbon fiber effect film, no you should be fine using that, i probably wouldnt apply it to anything that may get hot.
